SakiVI: I know, I've been taking ages with these. Quick recap: Butler Hu is now locked up for drowning Shopkeeper Wang in her jail cell with a pig bladder, and Master Guo, Butler Hu and Ding Dad all knew each other as army comrades fighting Mo Gu Dao back in the day. They also knew that Xianwu turtle statue from back in episode one. It's an old friend. Also, Master Guo has disappeared. So, moving on...

Tientsin Mystic - 河神 - Episode 8 (Recap)

SakiVI: Now, where were we? Oh, right, Shopkeeper Wang was arrested and Ding Dad seems to have been involved in the opium trade. JoAnne: Hmmmm...do we really believe that, though? kakashi: Oh yes, why shouldn't we?!

Tientsin Mystic - 河神 - Episode 7 (Recap)

kynkari: SakiVI is currently enjoying vacation in beautiful and exotic locales, so I have been asked to do a guest recap for Episode 7 in her absence. OMG, I’m recapping with kakashi and Jo! I feel like a nervous virgin on prom night. Squee! Jo: I promise to be gentle. kakashi: As gentle as the virgin's date.

Tientsin Mystic - 河神 - Episode 6 (Recap)

Image
SakiVI: More visions, more creepy villain, and a possible reason for the deaths. kakashi: I guess I'm not as enthralled as you lot with this show. I often find it very draggy. This episode in particular, certain scenes went on and on and on. JoAnne: I do like it, but you're right, there are times when it is very slow. By the way, did anyone notice the Snow Weasel on Evil Keebler's desk?

Tientsin Mystic - 河神 - Episode 5 (Recap)

Image
SakiVI: In which we meet a rather creepy villain. Also, Lan Lan the Journalist discovers what has probably become of her missing fiance. kakashi: The villain is great. And his voice *shudders* JoAnne: creeeeeeepy

Tientsin Mystic - 河神 - Episode 4 (Recap)

Image
SakiVI: Some shocking things happen. S.H.O.C.K.I.N.G. Although now you've been warned, you might be all "meh." Read on. kakashi: It was really shocking. Also, this drama is just so beautiful. Even the shocking things.  JoAnne: I gasped out loud. And then immediately pressed play on episode 5 because how could you NOT? I don't even feel like watching the later episodes. Instead, I just want to go to Episode 5.

Tientsin Mystic - 河神 - Episode 3 (Recap)

Image
SakiVI: The investigation into the murders gets underway, and we finally find out who the dead baby's mother is, and its backstory. Poor Mao is the victim of a prank gone to extremes, though. kakashi: Wonderful visuals. Wow.  JoAnne:  I loved this episode - the story definitely picks up and we also start to see relationships developing. It goes without saying that the episode is just as gorgeous as the first two - I'm really liking this drama a lot .

Tientsin Mystic - 河神 - Episode 2 (Recap)

Image
SakiVI: In which our handsome youths get to know each other more as they begin investigating Ding Dad's death and that of the unknown infant. Their styles are different, but complimentary, and it looks like the beginning of a deep bromance for people who like that sort of thing. kakashi: If they are not the true OTP, I will be angry. JoAnne: Who doesn't like a deep bromance? And if you don't...why are you watching dramas where all the best romances are always b-romances? Because the writers throw the bromance into my adventure story against my will.

Tientsin Mystic 河神 - Episode 1 (Recap)

SakiVI: Here we go! Finally, a show I've been wanting to watch all year gets subbed by the lovely  siantlark . Youtube's AvenueX raved about it , and I am so excited to watch it after a looooooonnnnng wait, that I have to recap it to get out all my feels. kakashi: Not on my radar except for you, SakiVI, fangirling before it even started. Loved the first episode though! I'm glad you fangirled. JoAnne: I wasn't paying a LOT of attention, I admit, but I did notice Saki's excitement. I thought this was going to be like a CIT story, but with water. Imagine my surprise to discover that THESE are the 'river gods' of which folks spoke. And then...it was kinda trippy with the many frozen screens and such, although I realize that might just have been crappy internet that night. I was a bit tipsy, so it was hard to tell . But first, a summary via www.mydramalist.com: during the Republican era, a river is haunted by inexplicable occurrences. Guo De You is a p...
