We Got Married - The RimKim Couple (Episode 5)

Ready for more cheese? You know what helps when you've had too much of it? (I should know, I'm Swiss, and am often forced to eat Fondue). You drink hot tea with it - and eat it with pickles. It's a myth that it helps to drink Schnaps or white wine! In fact, that makes you digest even slower!! But you know what? I don't care. Science. What do they know.
Mary: Bring on the cheese! And the fondue!!!
JoAnne: Cheese and pickles would be good, yes. I wonder that Koreans don't eat more cheese, given how much they like pickled things.
becca: Cheese and... pickles? Am I the only one who finds that combo unusual? *shrug* As long as you're happy! But I just want the pickles!

We Got Married - The RimKim Couple (Episode 4)

Mary: Halloa~ this is mary finally helping out with the WGM squeecaps. But first a 90-degree bow to kakashi for doing all the previous episodes while I was busy with life. (Even if hers is actually busier right now!) Thank you very kakashi! The drama gods are rewarding you with an increasingly awesome Shinichi/Tae-soo in Bad Guys! JoAnne: And we all benefit! Mary - I love the twist on thank you very kamsa :) kakashi: Heeellloooooo, mary! Glad to see you here! And happy to have been of service.

Bad Guys - Episode 3 (A SqueeCap)

Take a bunch of killing criminals and make us like them? Yes, of course. The best way to do that? Show us scumbags so low even the mere thought of them makes you sick. The crimes in this episode are once again utterly, utterly disgusting (it's borderline for me, to be honest), but they do serve a purpose: show us that our Bad Guys have morals. And there is no denying it anymore ... there's the first blossoming of bromance. It's very slight still, but it's definitely there.
JoAnne: I love the smell of bromance in the morning! (Yes, I watch this in the daylight. It's full of really scary people.)

Bad Guys - Episode 2 (A "Is it possible to squee if quite scared?" Cap)

This drama is dark, people. No unicorns, fluff and fairies in this one. The crimes are very gruesome and scary and the bare brutality of this world is quite shocking. People are using people and are being used and at the moment, there is a lot of talk about trust, but almost zero of it between people. Also, this is an episode centered on Tae-soo - and seeing him vulnerable isn't exactly helping me get rid of that feeling of dread I have when looking at this band of not-(yet?)-brothers. Also, sorry for the delay with this recap. Even though this is the only show I'm currently watching, moving is a bitch, but now I'm here and all is well.
bcook: *rushes in out of the rain* Omo! omo! I wanna comment! not to late?
JoAnne: Trust us... this show is worth the wait. And be careful with the subs, because they're still all being ripped from DSS and wayyyyy too early. Go to the source!

Some kind of RAWR: Saryre's Sunshine Award Questions

Guys, guys! We got another Sunshine Award Nomination, this time from Indigo/Helena, from the Between Wor(L)ds blog! Thanks so much :D. Her questions are the most of fun. See below. Hehe.
1. Kim Woo Bin without his trademark eyebrows or Kim Woo Bin without his deep voice - which version of him would you choose?JoAnne: Without the eyebrows. I can close my eyes and still hear the voice. The voice that speaks to my kokoro.
becca: Okay, this depends. What happens to his voice? His he mute, or is it high and squeaky now? Eh, I think I'll go without the eyebrows, too. He can always wear a hat and pull it down to hide their nonexistence.
Mary: Now, when you say "without his trademark eyebrows", you mean he has normal eyebrows, right? Because otherwise I can live with a mosquito-voiced Woobin rather than this:
kakashi: I go without eyebrows still. You know, we could PAINT them on in different colors, every morning! So much fun! 1
bcook: *walks in sulking coz mary took her color* G…

The Answers to our Name That Gif Quiz

If you got them all right, you are to be congratulated. Since this is a collaborative effort, I bet none of us here on PotUP knew them all. Am I right, ladies?

Rants and Weekly Raves #16 (RAWR)

I'm on holidays at the moment (wrong: I was when I wrote this though but now I'm definitely not, like NOT AT ALL, dammit), which means I can get a lot of recaps done (which is so not true anymore I haven't watched any Kdrama in at least a week!!). This week (that was 2 weeks ago), I did Jangbori 49 and 50 (and then 51 and 52, burried that fooker!), We Got Married 1, 2, and 3, gifs for Surplus Princess (mary is on a roll! (Yeah, totally finished by now)) and started Bad Guys 1. Also on my list is Yoo-na's Street and I am sorry for not pressing this ahead, but since there is NO WAY we can catch up with this show, it goes on priority No 3. 4? Anyway, I'm happy. All that recapping also meant I didn't work, which I should have, but these are my holidays, so I shouldn't (ah, how I wish I HAD though. So behind! So behind!).
Lafer: You are a recapping marvel. And with a new house, too. I do admit to refreshing every 20 minutes starting around 9 p.m EST on Saturday …

Name that Gif -- A PotUp Trivia

Hi Squeelets! Tired of whiling away the hours on Google, while refreshing the page every 15 minutes to see if new episodes of your favorite squeecaps are up? Here's a fun little game you can play against yourself to see how many gifs you recognize. Because really, who doesn't get satisfaction out of saying "oh, oh, oh, I know that one!" even if you are the only one who hears it? Most of the gifs are from PotUP, but there are a few random ones thrown in at the end. So as not to ruin it for the others, you can list in the comments how many you get + ones you had trouble with. Answers will come in a future post.

Happy Guessing!

Surplus Princess - Episode 10 Final (A SongJaeRimJob)

Surplus Princess ends as crazily as it started. Although not as pervy, which makes our kokos sad. You know what else makes our kokos sad? No? JoAnne: I can only speak for my own koko, Mary. Although I really prefer not to even do that. becca: I have very mixed feelings about this ending. But yes, most of them are sad. And if they're not sad, they're cranky. kakashi: It's finally Oooooooooover! *does happyhappy dance*

Jang Bori Is Here! - Episode 52 FINAL (KimJiCap)

It's the Eeeeeeend .... of the world, as we know it. Lalalaaaaaaaa. 52 episodes! Wow! We did it! Congrats, JoAnne! I don't know whether to laugh or cry? Should we have a big party? Or should we get drunk alone and quietly? Ah, and where is Kim Ji-hoon's next project? Is it too early? Why do I have so many questions? Maybe this is some kind of shock! By the way, this final episode is ... well. Haha. Read for yourselves.
JoAnne: Wow... we made it, and quite frankly, we're in much better shape than I expected us to be in. (But we do deserve that drink.) Somewhere about the 20th episode or so I realized that I was looking forward to this show and choosing it ABOVE OTHERS to watch, and the reasons why are sort of perfectly highlighted in this final episode.

Surplus Princess - Episode 9 (A SongJaeRimJob)

It's the second to the last episode. Will Pervy get her fun sekshi times? With whom? Or will she really vanish into pink bubbles of vanishment?! good riddance! (guess who that was) Did I ever stop to admire the cute animated sequence where they display the episode's title? JoAnne: Nope. You were always chasing dat ass. becca: Not that anyone blames you. An apple butt like that is worth chasing.

Jang Bori Is Here! - Episode 51 (KimJiCap)

Time to tackle this beast for the (almost) last time! To death! To glory! To Min-jung! To makjang! To Kim Ji-hoon! Yes, he made me do it. I feel like I should add a "hicks", but I'm not drunk.
JoAnne: I came for Kakashi. I stayed for the krazy.

Bad Guys - Episode 1 (A "I Squee So Hard I Almost Burst Something" Cap)

Never have people waited for subs more desperately, it seems, and never before have I found the time to actually help with subs for a show. But this? Totally worth it. And editing over at Dark Smurf Subs? Highly addictive. The editing is so much fun, I'm now 100% more excited for episode 2. But ... I'm signing up for that clone, alright? Heck, make it two!
JoAnne: I love it. I love it to pieces. It's so much fun.
kakashi: Even more fun: at the time of writing, all the streaming sites have taken the unfinished subs. Including all the crazy stuff we just sucked out of our fingers!!! Let's do some funny stuff with episode 2, shall we? :D
So. This show. It's exactly what I expected it to be and this makes me HAPPY. I want to spend a lot of time with this show to maximize that happiness. So we will recap. Even thought he Big Sisters also recap. This cannot be recapped enough. And only here do you get gifs. Of beautiful, beautiful men.
JoAnne: I want to have this show'…

The Night Watchman - Episode 6 (A WTFCap)

Hello everyone!  This episode is brought to you - completely out of the goodness of her busy, busy, very loving dongsaeng heart - by Shuk. She put me to shame! I couldn't stop laughing - I hope you like it too.

Because Korean children clearly can make prettier straw dolls than this.

Surplus Princess - Episode 8 (A SongJaeRimJob)

Lots of stuff get cleared up in this episode. Which is good, because we only have 2 episodes left. Chop-chop, Show! kakashi: Now you see me ... and now you don't *poof* (Anyway, this is one of the better episodes) Mary: kakashi is baaaaaaack! Come give her a hug, koko! JoAnne: If you're not coming back I'm taking back my color! You can be gold if it's just one comment. becca: I hope kakashi realizes that she's leaving the maknaes at the mercy of JoAnne. Who will protect us from the jeobbing? Mary: Save yourself, dongsaeng. I'm 100% jeobbed.

We Got Married - The RimKim Couple (Episode 3)

The Mermaid is over (I'll not lie, I'm glad), people are sad, but there's always the CheeseCouple. The CatCouple? The LTECouple? The PaboPabo Couple? Man, Rim needs to learn how to filter before he speaks.
JoAnne: Please someone for the love of God tell me what LTE stands for.
Mary: I just Googled (Long Term Evolution) but I think they're called LTE because they're so fast. Hahaha. Also, my brain is fried from the cheese, I can't come up with a jeob-worthy meaning for LTE.
Yes, LTE is the super fast (4G) cellphone technology. It's all about speed (and there's a lot of funny ads for LTE stuff on Korean TV, you sometimes see them in cable shows!)
JoAnne: Yes, but for me they will be the Let's Touch Everything Couple.

Rants and Weekly Raves #15 (RAWR)

Would you believe it! We've been nominated for a Sunshine Award!!! For "bring[ing] so much laughter to the blogosphere with their tireless squee-caps" - Awwwww, thank you very kamsa, kfangurl (from The Fangirl Verdict). This will need some coordination on our part, lovely Squeecappers. Cause I'm not going to answer these questions by myself! Let's have a conversation post then, shall we?
bcook: So...We is famous?
kakashi: Er ... no?
Mary: This will need coordination...? *fumbles with everything* Oups...

Surplus Princess - Episode 7 (A SadJaeRimJob)

Mary: 난슬픈...
JoAnne: I can't see any of the pictures. I don't know why.
kakashi: Maybe ... you're being punished for something?

We Got Married - The RimKim Couple (Episode 2)

Oooooooooooooooh my god. Rim! You .... big cute baby dork! In this episode, the wife's fingers curl up non-stop and I cringe-squee all the time.
Mary: *sitting smug in her Rim throne* I chose well. (Don't ask me about Surplus Princess though.
JoAnne: I don't know though. You fell for Mo, and then uncovered the enormous dork.  That just seems kind of lucky to me.  Well, not kind of. INCREDIBLY BLESSED. Because your guy is 96% perfect.
becca: When I heard he was a dork, I was not expecting him to really be this dorky. But he is, and it's beautiful, and he totally owns it, which just makes it that much more attractive. I think I love him.

Surplus Princess - Episode 6 (A SongJaeRimJob)

Mary: I'm so sad. JoAnne: *patpatpat* NOT you, KoKo. kakashi: I don't remember anything about this episode. I'm glad you'll trigger my memory.
EPISODE 6 It's The End of The World (How apt)
Hani answers her call, but it's Ahn Ma-nyeo on the other side, asking for news. She scolds him for possibly hogging her signal and ends the call, still waiting for Shi-kyung. JoAnne: You know, she spent so much time watching dramas, I don't know why she doesn't realize that the best thing to do when you're waiting for someone to call is just to go out, randomly, and pick a place, because you're sure to run into them there. kakashi: Oh, but only if unmyeong, the big fucker, is on your side. becca: Hey, it's worked for her before.

Jang Bori Is Here! - Episode 50 (KimJiCap)

This is episode number 50 and we're still here! And they are, too. Imagine how exhausted they must be ... This episode is slow at times and it makes us suffer through more Bi-dan suffering but we also finally get to the ultimate competition - which is good. Let's solve this - who is the best sewer of them all?
JoAnne: My mom. Now let the Hanbokers all shut up and go home.

Jang Bori Is Here! - Episode 49 (KimJiCap)

Oh dear, get ready to be shaken, people. This is a very emotional episode, in which some people try to prevent a certain truth from hurting a precious little kid, while others just cannot stop digging. No, Jangbori doesn't go out quietly. It'll first take us on an emotional roller coaster that will leave us shaking and crying. Goddamn you crazy show, I love you.
JoAnne: Do they not know we are MOTHERS, Kakashi? I want to kill everyone who makes that little girl cry. (Do you think they'll hit national drama status with 40% before the end?)
kakashi: I haven't seen the ratings for this weeks episodes yet. It's very possible, yes.

Surplus Princess - Episode 5 (A SongJaeRimJob)

Hello again! I'm dropping by from the land of Much Busy, Very Work to hack a little bit at this crazy Mermaid drama. Y'know, the one that got cut down to 10 episodes. That means the last one airs on October 9! Can tvN manage to wrap up everything by then? becca: Yes! No! Maybe?? JoAnne: Well sure. A meteor could drop on them all and kill everyone. Boom. End of drama. kakashi: I'm sure they'll wrap up but I'm also sure it will be an opportunity to have ragefits.& (Note re: We Got Married. Yes, we're going to cap it! kakashi, Enabler of Squees, has started the RimKimJeobs so it should be up soon. Well, as soon as we finish commenting. Hehe. She's already finished it. ^^ Thanks, kakashi! (You're welcome. It had to happen) Oh, and we're still doing YNS recaps too, in case any YNS-lovers are reading this and waiting for news too.)
So just as a refresher, Episode 4 ends with Jin-ah telling everyone to go ahead and try getting into JH, because they can…

We Got Married - The RimKim Couple (Episode 1)

kakashi: Hi everyone! I'm not mary/kdramalaws. Which is unfortunate, but the thing is: she is working so much these days she can barely say hi but she promised to comment at least. Right? Hello? Mary? Are you there?
Mary: I'm here. Barely coherent at the cuteness of this show. But here with my pet kokoro. Ready to be jeobbed, the both of us. Aren't we, koko?
a tiny little voice: yes!
JoAnne: I am deeply uncomfortable appearing anywhere in the near vicinity of Mary's tiny talking kokoro. DEEPLY.
Mary: Don't worry, she doesn't bite. (not as comforting as you might expect)

The second thing you need to know is this: I have never before watched We Got Married. In fact, I always thought pretending to be married to somebody for a variety show is the weirdest idea EVER - and why would anyone want to watch it? Right. I still think it's the weirdest idea ever, but then, everybody started raving about the RimKim couple all around me until I finally caved and watched (I …

Rants and Weekly Raves #14 (RAWR)

Sometimes when RL smothers you in all the messes and obligations you can forget about your guilty pleasures, what gives you joy and what relaxes you.

*whispers* Like This Guy.
Don't let it happen! Stay strong! Book a trip back to kdramaland. We miss you.
JoAnne: I swear I hear him in my sleep.
kakashi: Do you mean me, bcook? Well. I'm not back. This is just my ghost speaking.
bcook: *Waves wildly at kakashi* stay strong!
JoAnne: *reaches out to the computer screen and sighs* *leaves you to wonder if it's for Belovable or for Kakashi, who is belovable but not with a capital B, and sorely missed.*
