Episode 11

The truth is out! Everybody gathered at the ceremony sees how precious Yuan Zheng went crazy (or rather, Demon possessed) and killed Celestial troops, how the God of War tried to save him but couldn't, leaving him with the promise to keep this incident a secret to protect his family before killing him.
You just had to push, MOM. (But I mean honestly, who wouldn't have done the same?)
Yeah, ok, you want me to empathize with her? I DON'T WANNA
As soon as the sequence of images is done, Jiu Chen grabs Ling Xi's unconscious form and walks away, leaving behind a completely shattered Madame Yuan. GoW's posse and himself gather around Ling Xi's bed and look mighty worried. Qing Yao says her exterior wounds will heal alright with proper care, but she's afraid of the inner wounds. The Cleansing Pool is vicious and it's possible Ling Xi might never be able to ascend from lowly immortal because of her rather lengthy contact with the water.
How did she even come out of that pool?
It was all thanks to that sand-shooting-YouTube-streaming-Apple-watch-bracelet-cauldron-fixer-upper-gadget........ or Ding.
Everybody leaves until only GoW, Qing Yao and Yun Feng remain. The latter insists on taking Qing Yao outside... he's a shipper, isn't he? Well, maybe he's just shipping himself with the Doctor Lady, though that's not going so well (hysterically bad). Same between Si Ming and Thirteenth who also get some alone-time. She's taking about marriage, he's like "WTF is happening to me". He's not in love, he tells her, but he'd like to be friends. Okay, it's kinda sweet. Tragic backstory and all, she only became a woman because she was in love.
Well that is messed up.
I don't think she thought this one through. It's like getting a giant forehead tattoo of your crush's name before you even know if the guy likes you yet.
I didn't get the impression that this was something she initiated. More like - she was a Merman who fell in love with a man, and so it triggered this particular reaction.
Inside the house, God of War is tending to the unconscious Ling Xi, dabbing away sweat and blood and snot. Aha, the little trickster is awake! And totally enjoying his attention. He sees right through it of course but gets called away by Yuan Tong's fiance who requests an audience.
She's a real minx, that one.
A minx with a good eye. Just look at this man. Is GoW not husband material or what? Look at how meticulous and tender he is. I'm rooting for you, sis.
Du Yu has come to beg Jiu Chen to save the Yuan family from having to endure the same fate as Lie Yi. He's pretty honest, but come on, how can you ask this of Jiu Chen? I find it impertinent, after how that Madame talked to Jiu Chen.
I dunno...he spent all that time protecting them and it wasn't him who revealed the secret in the end - I find it completely plausible that he'd continue to try.
Have to agree, this Du Yu guy is very astute. Every time the camera pans to him, he's got a calculating look on his face.
Ling Xi misses GoW's attention and even gets out of bed trying to see where he went. GoW comes back and tells her to stop the charade. He brings her an extremely valuable and rare pill for her recovery, which she means to stow away and keep for a special occasion. Nope, it's to be eaten now, stern daddy says.
It's not the Get Out of Jail Free pill, Ling Xi.
This is absolutely something I would do. I'm a saver.
He quizzes her about why she went to the dangerous pool afterwards and Ling Xi tells him Yuan Tong pushed her in because she wouldn't hand over the war report.  He seems at his wits end about her - a lowly immortal fighting someone so much more powerful just to protect him? Has he not met this girl? Well, I can see that changing his mind about the Yuan family, though.... He asks Ling Xi what kind of punishment she thinks is adequate: push her in too? But Ling Xi just wants a sincere apology. And then no food for that woman for 100 years! And money! Yuan Tong must be loaded and Ling Xi wants it all. (Little entrepreneur, this one. Definitely a more profitable option than sending somebody to their death.) Jiu Chen... cracks up laughing. Sweet pumpkins, please don't hurt each other in the future.
Make him laugh some more!
Can we tickle him?
He isn't laughing anymore (No one listens to me, dammit) when he confronts Yuan Tong with her crime later though. He demotes her to a mere soldier (she never had to climb the ranks but inherited the General position from her brother) and strips her of 50,000 years of cultivation. Where does it go?! (To him? I was thinking he was sucking it all in. That'd be kinda messed up though.) He should at least have given it to Ling Xi.
Can it be reassigned like that, though? Wouldn't that make it something that could be bought and sold, theoretically? Imagine the abuse potential!
Yuan Tong is extremely grateful he doesn't banish her family and keeps her in the army. (Let's see how long this gratitude lasts before she ruins his life.) But then, Jiu Chen demands an apology to Ling Xi... if looks could kill. Jiu Chen says she's banned from eating for 100 years and has to hand over all her treasures to Ling Xi. OMG! He really asked for it!!! We LOVE you, God of War.
YES
A couple that's petty together, stays together <3
Filler stuff with that brotherly person living in the Peach Grove meeting his love interest, a pink knotweed. Yeah.
Then why isn't she WEARING PINK?
This has to be the most irrelevant coupling ever.
God of War has overused his powers --> bad boy, he's still cold, especially at midnight. Doctor Lady suggests he should seal his own powers and go live as a mortal (that's a pretty good idea, actually) if he finds it hard to heed her advice. Yun Feng (who's so in love, awwww) like the idea, GoW not at all.
Look at that sweet man there, is your heart just melting or what?
Ehhhh, he comes on a little too strong for my taste.
We almost end the episode with Qing Yao getting drunk and flashbacking to happy times with a man supposed to become her husband. Looking at a keepsake, she recites: Love to the fullest in my presence, mourn eternally in thy absence.
No one who really loves you would want that for you.
So there's a reason why she's an ice queen.
And then we really end it with the beginning of a Heavenly meeting, where the God of Lightning demands the Yuans are punished by protocol. He was thick as thieves with them before, but that doesn't matter to someone like him.
His day of reckoning will come. I can't wait.

Comments

Well, well, well! GoW is smitten and likes to touch Ling Xi, hahahahahaaaaa.
I was quite surprised to see him tending to her injuries so tenderly here. A very obvious display of affections, although it's my opinion that he hasn't actually realized it yet. She definitely makes him feel things, but the feelings are alien and he doesn't know what to make of it.

Yun Feng is in for a rough ride. A lady with a broken heart is not an easy prey.
Pretty sure that only makes him want it more. Seems like the type of guy that goes rabid after "hard-to-get".

Rant about Du Yu: I know he did it for love, but he's not even from the Yuan family and he instigated the whole thing, now I remember. Yuan Tong wanted to do the right thing with the letter before he intervened! Boooooo! Not feeling sorry for this family at all, sorry.
I think my sympathy is pretty much running dry for Yuan Tong, at least.
Don't like her, but understand her. I'm happy she's not just some nonsense second-lead/villain who sabotages people lives only on the basis of being batshit boy-crazy.
