Rants and Weekly Raves (RAWR) #397

Anne: Ah...another week passes and this time I really did not watch a whole lot. This post will be a little different from the usual. I spent over 60 hours at work last week and didn't get much of a chance to watch anything but Netflix.

Does everyone know what show on Netflix that I am eluding to?

That's right...Season 2! Gasp!

Now let's get right to this discussion. If you didn't know anything about the original story, this is actually a great story. The pressure of being in charge of the family and every member depending on your decisions and add that to the aristocratic legacy and you have a sense of what Anthony is going through. It is unclear in the drama how old he was when his father passed away and him having to take over a job that he wasn't prepared. And I do like this version of Kate, incredibly head strong and willful and knows what she wants.

However, if you, like many, remembered any little details of the original story, you might be pulling your hair out. Edwina was never in love with Anthony in the original story, she was flattered by the attention and of being a viscountess, but she was never heart broken. In fact, if my bad memory serves me correct today, Edwina actually fell in love with another man. And Anthony never carried things so far with Edwina. In fact it was still quite early in their courtship that the "bee" incident happened with Kate. In the original story, the "bee" incident ended up with Anthony trying to suck the poison from the sting. And let's all just imagine how much more delicious of a scandal that would be if they showed the original scene as it was written. Oh well....

What I liked the best about this version of the Viscount Who Loved Me was the story of Penelope. In the books, even though a lot of these things were happening in the background, we never knew it until Penelope's story was told.

One more comment...this Queen definitely has some very interesting hair styles. I am constantly amazed that she doesn't topple over.

I just took a look at the first publication date of the books...yikes! 2000! Wow, the last time I've read this story was when I started graduate school, nearly 21 years ago?! Well...let's how see the next story will be retold...

And I am still trying to figure out how the show will handle Penelope when it is her turn. Because in the books, what she looks like now will not be how she will look later (the coloring yes). She is still a child like Eloise and there is some growing up to do in the near future.

Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai VS Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko (The Man Who Defies the World of BL 2)

If anyone has seen the first season of this ridiculous interesting and off-beat show, you will find season 2 along the same lines. Poor ML, just when he finally came to accept his fate of living in a world of BL, his interest got ruthlessly snatched away. He's not dis-heartened, he is ecstatic that he is UNBEATABLE!

And can we say the opening dance routine has gone up a notch?

The song is very catchy. The episodes are very short and it is a funny to watch a guy trying to avoid any romantic entanglements. Even with a "girl". Because a "pretty" girl in this universe, is usually a guy.

Legally Romance

The first sign that Qian Wei realized that her future and present are colliding is during her legal exam, she slid from being in her new "past" and into her "future" self.

This is just the first of many instances. Before the test, she realized that she didn't actually change much in her past. Her brother still suffered an injury that ended his career. Her father still passed away from the same illness. Her best friend, Shi Yun, did not make much progress in her music career. And being the supportive boyfriend that he is, Lu Xun may have just re-introduced Qian Wei back into Li Chong Wen's world.

I'm really want to see how they resolve this entire past plot device. It is highly unlikely that she will be able to stay in this "new" past life of hers. The drama has 13 more episodes to close the loop.

And this is yet for this week. Wishing everyone a great week and enjoy a little bit of the outside air. (Unless you are in Texas, and it's Oak season, and you have allergies.)
