Anne: Hope everyone spent a great new year's! I, on the other hand, had a great new year's eve..

And ended up sick for the next two days. I still can't tell if I caught something or it's my usual sinus infection due to bad drainage and being allergic to my general environment. At least everything is back to normal...to a point. 

Is it my imagination or did the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 just dumped a bunch of new dramas all at the same time?

How great was the ending? It was one of the most complete ending of a drama in recent years. And how glad am I that our silly Ji Yong turned out to be a good guy after all. A real A-hole for all the scheming that he did, but I guess, it goes right with his character build up. He ended up still going into the monastery.

While I feel a little sad that not everyone made it to the end, the characters did follow their paths based on their character setup. While it is also sad that some of these people, who could have changed and learned and grown and altered their outcome, didn't, I guess I shouldn't expect miracles since most people follow their innate personalities. (Dou Ming, Dou Zhao's younger sister died in probably the worst way for the girls in this drama. And even in the at the end, she still believed in her husband.) At least An Su pulled herself out from her husband's schemes and didn't choose to follow him down the path. 

In the end, Song Mo got the antidote to his poison, and our lovely couple finally was able to go traveling.

Guardians of Dafeng

This came out like a few days before the end of 2024, and I don't know what I expected, but it started like Joy of Life, but instead of a book, they went to a murder mystery clue type of thing. This opened up a to our ML "transferred" into Xu Qi An, who is locked up due to a crime by his uncle for losing a bunch of government silver. He is told of the crime by his cousin, Xu Xin Nian, who is a student of the YunLu Academy. Everyone thought the silver was the work of some demon sort, but after looking at the crime report, Xu Qi An found out that the silver was long gone before it even began transport and was replaced by aluminum. Now...all the science makes sense, but I cannot believe that he got the recipe out of a science book. And the pure aluminum has to be stored in oil to present it from reacting to the water in the air. And THAT much aluminum dumped in water would have killed everyone who was in the transport team.

But the show is quite funny, there are a lot of odd silly moments that makes this show really interesting for me to watch. For example, when all 3 of them showed up at the brothel to question the main act, even though all 3 of them made a big "discussion" about how could someone so up standing as themselves could ever step into such an establishment. It was quite comical when they all met up.

And when he finally entered the Guardians, the only way to get Li YuChun to take him on was for the  Golden league Yang Yan to threaten to tell his cousin that her husband is abusing the "little cousin". 

Xu Qi An was recommended to join by the Princess (Lin An), who likes to hang out once a month at the Astronomic Bureau, which seems to be made up by a bunch of alchemists/chemists. 

I am really enjoying this, partly because the silly, funny moments that are inserted throughout that you don't expect, and also the crime solving. I like that too.
