Rants and Weekly Raves (RAWR) #483
Anne: Hello Drama Lovers! It is another week, and school has started again!
Unfortunately, the little nine year old did not have the best first day at school. There were a bunch of miscommunication and the school sort of "lost" the little person for about 40 minutes. Basically, everything that could fail, did. There are several option for release of the students, and apparently, someone forgot to look at the electronic permission form I submitted in it's entirety, and made an assumption that wasn't true. A little fright, but at least everyone is safe and sound at the end. (The second day went much better.)
Now...while I am far from the type of person to believe in anything supernature or otherworldly (I mean I expect when I die that I would just disappear), I do tend to correlate a lot of events with karma. During the meet the teacher event on the Friday before, a little girl, who couldn't have been more than 3 or 4, stopped right in front of me as we walked out the school door and started crying. No other adult responded, no adult came to comfort her, so it was very obvious that she lost her parent. Because it was an open event, it was a mad house, there were none of the processes that would be in place when school is in session. So... even I didn't know what to do but to send my husband to find a teacher or someone while I waited outside with the little girl in case her parent realized that they were one child short. And she was really young, because when I asked if she knew her mama's name, she said that she was just called mama. After a bit more waiting around, we found someone from the school to help with the lost child. The good thing was, as soon as we started walking inside the gym and towards the school person who was going to help, her mother found us. (I swear, I never understood how no one lost any kids at these events.) I would like to think that little bit good karma protected my little nine year old during the missing 40 minutes.
For this weeks' post, I'm going to talk about something a bit different.
Immortal: Be there and done that
I think I have mentioned in some previous posts that my drama watching has been side tracked by my YouTube short drama watching. Usually these dramas are eye candy and satisfies my short attention span. Recently I came across one of the few short drams that I really, really like and would like to see it remade into a regular drama series. There are 4 parts already, with definitely more on the way.
The main character of this story is a mysterious woman (who has lived for a really long time, but so far, it is unclear exactly how long) named Wang XiaoYi. The story begins with her showing up at the door where the head of the family has been on his death bed for a few months. The entire family knows the grandfather is waiting for someone and refuses to take his last breath until he sees the person he is waiting for.
The appearance of Wang XiaoYi causes all sorts of misunderstandings and such, when in reality, the grandfather was waiting for his owner. XiaoYi picked up the grandfather when he was a homeless teenager and asked him if he wanted to be her servant.
This is like a crime solving drama, except the solving of the mysteries has almost no real effort, because she KNOWS everything. What is interesting is to watch the story, as each family's interconnections unfolds with each telling. I really like the way the story telling proceeds. I love how she picked up her new servant from that first family, and his comedic antics help breaks the monotone character of XiaoYi. Remember, she is a very old person, who is all knowing and powerful beyond mortal imagination, and she demonstrates no reactions to anything that is happening around her.
There is a over-arching story behind each crime solving. She has purposely "left" her memories in different places, with the decedents of her servants from her "travels", and it is all some sort of 'trap/scheme" to capture someone (let's assume it would be some sort of evil entity).
There is no romance to speak of in this interpretation... so far... and I'm enjoying every moment of the plot. I'm probably going to have to find this novel somewhere and see what happens.
As a weird odd side note, not related to the drama above, what is with these giant bags of chips?
... this is the second one that I've seen recently. The other one was a giant bag of ruffles. Where can I get one of these? I'm going to use them for my team building.
Anyway, this is all for this week. Hope everyone finds something great to watch.
