Episode 44

We spend lots of time with Yun Feng's earnest attempt to propose to Qing Yao, but as we know, Star Lord Sang Nan is back. When she sees him, Qing Yao learns the truth about her mortal husband who died because of Yun Feng's flood. He wasn't a mortal who died at all but a god on a 55,000 year trial because of his Qing Yao obsession. Because she showed herself to him again and dropped a comb, he finally could come back.
Wow so poor Yun Feng was hated and blamed for something he did not DO?
Oh, he did very much drown the world, hahaha, but this guy didn't exactly die..
Yuli gleefully tells Yun Feng all the details about this case and mentions that it was Si Ming who made sure Mr. Sang Nan would find his way back. Cue angry stomping to Si Ming Palace. But Si Ming has fled to Fuyun Hall where he has a long and awkward conversation with Shi San. I still really dislike him for playing with Shi San's feelings. Then, Yun Feng barges in and tries to beat up Si Ming. Yawn.
I don't care for this Si Ming at ALL.
In the mortal world, the housekeeper of the Song family happens to come to town, where he recognizes A-Mo. After getting a description of where she lives, he and his servant come for a visit. But it's not a friendly one: The housekeeper is outraged to hear she has been living here with a man - and A-Mo is soon shocked and hurt to learn that her "Lord Song" isn't Lord Song at all.
Oh boy. Here we go. A Mo if your relationship is in tatters you might as well get some of that good-good, you hear what I'm saying? THEN you can yell at him. Priorities, woman.
I understand how she feels. It's not nice to find out that the guy you've been kissing has been lying about his identity from day 1. However, our color coordinated couple is too far down the lover's lane to turn back. Besides, he is so in love... "I just want to protect you"- "I want to stay be your side always" - "I like you. I care about you. I pine for you" and "you can even say that it is love." He just couldn't leave her alone, because he is worried - and he was worried that she might forget him otherwise.
Yep. No longer mad.
When did he fall in love? She wants to know. A long time ago. When they first met? No... much longer. Yeah... dropping the reincarnation card is always a winner. Oh, but she has questions... many. And he cannot really answer them, can he, because that would probably mean meddling with her trial and that's a big, big no-go. He shuts her up skillfully with a kiss. A REAL kiss. Next step: babies.
Like, NOW. A Mo if you don't do it I might just from watching.
But A-Mo won't forget her many questions. She asks them again later (how much later? wink, wink): Where does he live, who are his parents, etc. etc. He answers her truthfully and ... she thinks he's making fun of her. Since she won't stop inquiring he puts her to sleep with immortal magic. Hey, that's cheating!
Immortal Peng comes to pay a visit, trying to find out what grudge GoW has against him. None, I'd say, you're just in the wrong place at the wrong time - but apparently, Peng can also be useful. GoW asks him to create a fake identity for him. One that makes him look like a great marriage prospect! Pffft :)
Perhaps you shouldn't have made him bleed...
When A-Mo wakes up the next morning (she's quite confused because she doesn't remember falling asleep) Um....do YOU remember falling asleep? Jiu Chen has a whole bundle of documents for her. Oh dear, Jiu Chen... :D He has a huge mansion, servants, assets, is successful in business... a worthy marriage prospect!
Do they explain why he pretended to be someone else when he was such a great catch to begin with? And why he didn't approach her way back when?
Only... Immortal Peng messed up. There's one document that says Jiu Chen has concubines (homonym to female servants, apparently). Oh dear. He grabs the document in the most suspicious way and flees. *shakes head* - has nobody taught you not to lie?!
Serving up that cultivation, yep.

Jealous Yun Feng isn't funny but mean, trying to badmouth his love rival. That never looks sexy. Qing Yao is the queen of side eyes - but she invites him to Peach Forest with her.
When I think of old-time classic chinese women, her face is exactly what is in my mind, based on whatever imagery we got here when I was forming those kinds of impressions. She is so pretty!
That she's been living in concubinage with a wrong Mr. Song is weighing heavily on A-Mo's conscience. And she feels bad about her grandma who apparently is severely ill. Jiu Chen is keen to accompany her. A-Mo's mother is tearfully delighted to see her, all cured and such. Wow, all the bitches are still here. It's like going home for Christmas but you absolutely hate your family.

Comments

At this point, Jiu Chen has given up entirely - he cannot fight his attraction, worse, he's so in love he basically doesn't care about anything but being with A-Mo anymore. I like that he tried to be truthful ("I'm a god from the Nine Heavens") but of course, that sounds like the most ridiculous story ever. A-Mo's mortal family... well, let's see what happens. 95% of them are trash.
Even the 5% that love her are kind of trash.
