Roommate Episode 11 Wouldn't It Be Nice If Only Good Things Happened?

Image
Lafer's feeling a time pinch so I'm going to help with recapping duties for Roommate a bit. I feel lucky, too - Gayeon is narrating this episode and she's the cutest punkin ever,  PLUS there's a trip! And the previews look a bit tense, to put it mildly. Will our makeshift family show their clay feet? Or is it all some evil PD's manipulation? bcook: Pffft! Don't believe anything you see in the previews. Worse case of audience manipulation I've seen yet.  Episode 11 A little montage to show that the roommates do occasionally irritate each other. Gayeon narrates that on this particular day, most people were out due to their schedules. Mama Shin comes home from some where and is pissed that there's a ton of dirty dishes in the sink. It's nasty, it smells bad, it draws bugs. They all agreed to clean up after themselves, and he cleans up after himself, and why aren't they all doing what they promised to do. He's tired of nagging about it. ...

Roommate Episode 10 - Youth Never Comes Again

Image
We begin episode 10 with Se Ho narrating in a recording studio.   I’m not sure why, but I’m happy to see his smiling face. He is just so earnest. While this episode is a bit of a let down after last week’s, the feeling of comraderie and lightheartedness of living in the house together is apparent.   And when a special guest comes to visit, the roommates go all out. JoAnne:  They really do.  With all the games that are constantly being played in everything we watch, and ok yes the lack of actual sex in anything we ever watch...I just have this image of them as these sweet naive virgins all hanging out and playing games and thinking pure thoughts.  Oh, I know.  I know. Chan Yeol is probably into leather or something...but I still have the mental image of innocence. bcook: *seriously considers Chan Yeol's leather fetish* Nope...I don't think he's matured into that yet.

Roommate Episode 9 - Sweetness, Spiciness, Bitterness

Sorry for the delay but with the 4th of July weekend, I'm a little behind.  This is a long recap, too, so grab your champagne and tissues, people, I think we just hit perfection with this week's episode. It has just the right amount of funny, spicy, sweet, salty (lol) and heart to it. And if anyone can get a spin-off show from Roommate, I would want it to be Se Ho's mother. That woman is kindness, love and wisdom all in one. But before we need to pass the tissues, we're taking a ride on the funny side! bcook: This is a bittersweet episode for me given the recent news. My oppajusshi was so sweet and loving and *wails* *sniffles*

Roommate Episode 8 - You're My Number 1

Image
This episode, narrated by Min Woo, shows the roommates as they continue to settle into their everyday lives, entertain guests and bond over Korea's soccer team. There is a lot going on in Episode 8, but we're slowly getting a clearer picture of the roommates' personalities - some for the better and some for the worse. Warning: None of us are afraid to give our honest opinions! JoAnne: Shit's gettin' real. bcook: *rubs hands together*

Roommate Episode 7-- The Hilarity Returns!

Image
They're back! And in the best possible way. This episode, narrated by NaNa, had me smiling from start to finish.  Bom departs for the Phillipines (I love how they say it. Pilleepeen. Love it.) , and as we focus on the remaining roommates and their activities du jour, it is more hilarious than ever. We are even introduced to a new member, Kang Dash Man. Thank you, Roommate, for upping up the awesome level once again! bcook: What's with all the cats? I know the internets like cats but this is a bit ridiculous.

Roommate Eps 6 - Bom's Message Becomes a (Fake) Reality

Image
This week Bom finally tries to get some revenge on everyone for their constant harassment of her when she walks in the door every day. She and Min Woo decide to set up a "fake relationship" scenario to see how the others respond. Some of the guys don't take being fooled lightly, and decide to do a prank on their own.  Does this make for a fun episode?  The opinions on that are divided. JoAnne: I didn't mind it - I think it could have been edited better to make it more entertaining, but I didn't think anything was offensive or mean. bcook: They should have done a long con. An entire week before they confessed. That would have been awesome. The episode starts with Bom and So Ra at a restaurant, and So Ra is questioning Bom about a text she sent over Kaotalk (that according to the producer, turned the house upside down in utter confusion) announcing she and Min Woo were dating.  We then see Bom explain that she was angry for the pranks they pulled on her and d...
