Rants and 'Weekly' Raves #25 (RAWR)

Image
kakashi: I am sorry, people, but I have to rant this week. A lot. Please see below. And then, later in the week, I discovered something to rave about! YAY! This makes me very happy, cause it's been a while! Guess what it is? And WOW ... we have a lot to talk about again... JoAnne: No one else will ever notice this because they only see the finished post, but for much of the week, the body of the RAWRS mostly looks like Kakashi and I arguing back and forth about different shows, and it's hilarious to me.  Shuk: I just grabbed some popcorn and watched.

Is it the weekend again? That's crazy!  kakashi: The OCD in me tried to organize the ramblings of the SqueeCappers. Uhm ... well. It's better than it was before, believe me!

Vampire Shows: US Vamps vs. Korean Vamps

Image
Vampire Diaries Season 4 premiered last Thursday. This is a perfect opportunity to do a different kind of comparison: US Vampires vs. Korean Vampires. Americans have the upper hand in terms of quantity - well, the vampire hype has been going on for a while over there. And I've actually seen quite a lot of US vamp shows. You know, before I became Korazy, I was Vamprazy. Blood Ties (which is technically not a US but a Canadian show): I remember Christina Cox as Vicky Nelson. That's it. And I do remember that I liked her in it, because Vicky Nelson is a great character and she portrayed her well. Moonlight: I remember Alex O'Loughlin as Mick St. John, but that's it. Ah, no, something else: there is one episode with mummies and an Egyptian museum... I think. Or hang on, was that in Blood Ties? Or was that in the Blood Ties' books?? Dammit, there's this vampire mess in my head. (Actually, I also thought that Mick St. John is the vampire who is with Vicky Nelso...

Day 51

seriously, what's wrong with me? I haven't watched any Supernatural for at least 4 days! Instead, I have re-watched all the Damon scenes from Vampire Diaries!!! I obviously can't resist a bad vampire. It's something like two weeks to True Blood and lightyears to Season 6 of Supernatural. And I am dreading a) catching up to the end of Season 5 of Supernatural and b) that Alan Ball messes up Season 3 just like Season 2 and c) that there are not enough Eric scenes. But I am grateful for re-watching all the Damon scenes. It was worth it.

Days 38-41

There's something I've been thinking about for a while: the death point of TV shows. Each and every show I have ever watched get's to a point whereafter it is doomed to die (which means cancelled in the TV show world). Not immediately, of course, because there are many doctors who keep it artificially alive - but after that point it becomes boring or even annoying to watch. So boring that it becomes a show you watch while you are ironing. It's usually the writers fault. They can't keep their own promises or they make stupid mistakes like letting the boy have the girl (even though everybody know that only a love unfulfilled makes good TV) or they just loose the feel for the story. And then, I found this list : wow. First of all, it's filled with shows I have never heard of. Second, it proves me very wrong. There are shows that live for 56 years! Very scary. Of course, I've always known that watching TV series is a lifelong commitment. But ... h...

Days 25 and 26

Vampire Diaries is becoming interesting, right before the end of season 1. Or is it just me in my not-sure-what-I've-got-but-I'm-not-fully-functional/healthy state? (surely also the reason why I post pictures of Ian Somerhalder on this Blog) Who knows what kind of tricks my brain is trying to play on me. I actually had to watch certain moments twice because the information seemed too complex the first time. So what's with the rings? Can I have one too? They are really ugly, but having a ring that brings you back from the dead seems useful. Spartacus continues to be the most awful show I have ever seen. I do write this also as a future reminder to myself, in case I forget. I do wonder who in their right minds wants to see so much manliness? And who wants to hear things like: "beg for your life, little rabbit?" or, my favorite: "A Gladiator does not fear death. He embraces it. Caresses it. Fucks it. Each time he enters the arena, he slips his cock in the m...

Day 7

Vampire Diaries sucks big time. What a load of sentimental crap! Even bad ass beauty ass Ian Somerhalder can't save that show. Can't wait for True Blood to continue, even though Allan Ball really messed up Season 2 and I fear he will do the same to Season 3. Okay, back to the important stuff: Today I'm grateful for the Gummy Bear songs. They bring great joy into my life. I love all three of them, but if I had to choose from among them, I would probably choose CHO KA KA O, for showing us an island paradise in which green gummy bears dance with crabs.

Day 1

I am grateful today for ... ... warming up to "Supernatural" after all and having 4 full seasons ahead of me. I like this about myself: becoming the teenager I never was through watching Glee, Vampire Diaries, and, now, Supernatural. who knows, I might even develop a crush on Dean. they don't look like brothers at all, by the way, and it really bugs me that Dean is almost a head shorter than Sam.
