The Problematic of the Unproblematic

kakashi: WE MADE IT! Actually, I was quite certain everyone I care for would die in this episode. Fo Ye does not have any descendants in The Lost Tomb , right? But then I realized that Fo Ye cannot die, because Changsha is Fo Ye and Fo Ye is Changsha. How I know this? The exposition fairy told me. SakiVI: Yay for Changsha, which never caved to the Japanese ! Yay for Fo Ye who always knew the Japanese were doing secret experiments! 

kakashi: I'm always super wary when Chen Pi's in the title of an episode. And I was right to be, because this is the worst edited episode yet. Nothing makes ANY sense. The plot holes are as big as that meteorite tomb. SakiVI: I just admired the Nose. After all, there's not much more time to spend with it, and I'm a bit sad about that, even though this drama is way too long.

kakashi: This episode is fun, fun, fun. Hot Fo Ye (temporarily deep frozen), pretty Lt. Zhang, even Er Ye gets his act together and Ba Ye is helpful and un-annoying. The downside: it's episode 46 of a much too long drama. SakiVI: At least it was all entertaining! 

kakashi: In this episode, a dog is stolen and then returned - it's basically all that happens. I really don't understand why they didn't call it "The Stealing of a Dog (while Ba Ye and Fo Ye are hilarious)". SakiVI: it was funny, but why steal a dog you're going to cure anyway? You just have to ask the owner and explain things. To fill an episode, Saki . 

kakashi: Do I really need to care about Mo Ce going missing?! *sigh*... or will Er Ye go after her and save her? To live happily ever after and noodle free?! Of course NOT. One of the most pointless and boring episodes yet. SakiVI: The producers were really dragging everything out.  Must've been written into everyone's contracts: this many lines, these many scenes, too bad no more story needed.

kakashi: Fo Ye and Xin Yue finally get married, but then, the drama decides to start a completely new storyline. Why. SakiVI: I'm happy they got married but totally annoyed we're not wrapping things up now. So, conflicted.

SakiVI: Fo Ye's back as Changsha's Royal-Duke-in-Residence. Huo Niang's storyline gets wrapped up. And the Dongbei Zhang Family is scary! kakashi: Do we know why we haven't met the Dongbei Zhang Family before, especially when we were at Dongbei and at the Zhang residence? Anyway, let's be glad there's enough Fo Ye in this episode, also in uniform and strotting, to give us pleasure, that Lu has to pay for his idiocy and that everything makes halfway sense.

SakiVI: Okay, can we get out of this underground world/alternate reality already? On the plus side, the villains are unintentionally amusing here. And we meet Ryouko again. kakashi: There's an old Chinese saying that goes: "Be patient as a snail and you will reap the benefits a thousandfold".

SakiVI: In which our gang, and Chen Pi, suffer some more under the meteorite's illusion-making. Read on. kakashi: I'm beginning to think that having a meteorite like this at home might actually be quite a bit of fun? If you have no demons of the heart, that is. Which I don't. I think.

SakiVI: I thought the origin of the Meteorite was outer space? Anyway, this episode is Hendry-heavy. Sorry, kakashi. kakashi: Yeah, no fun. It's not your fault, but he's really what I enjoy least about this show. I'll be short and grumpy.

SakiVI: Omo, Fo Ye and Xin Yue finally get married! For Realz! Or do they? Er Ye persists in his delusions and Ya Tou persists in her Stepford Wife act. Xin Yue, on the other hand, persists in being cute. Squee! kakashi: This episode is both scary and sad.

SakiVI: We get noodled. Read on. kakashi: The episode is called "Er Ye's Troubles", but it should really be called "Er Ye's Noodle s". Or maybe "Er Ye's Noodles meet Er Ye's Balls?" Here he is, sobbing into his noodles:

SakiVI: In this episode, we enter an alternate reality. Yay, I guess. But at least we're in the tomb for a while, and it looks really cool! Plus, we get more Lost Tomb-like activity than we've had in ages, possibly ever, in this show. The Prince continues to troll Chief Lu, Chen Pi is himself, and we also learn who Ba Ye admires the most.  kakashi: Yes, so, if you thought this was a bit crazy, you should probably reset your crazometer, because this show is only getting started .  

SakiVI: I'm back! I was away on holidays, then had a sudden family visit, and then the election, and now, I'm back for your recapping pleasure! and I'd like to say, I really need this show right now. Fo Ye and Gang just cheer me up a lot. I'm even mildly happy about seeing the Nose again. kakashi: This episode is a lot of fun because of the poncey and lavish Qing Prince, who loves nothing more than fooling Lu and his band of Idiots.   

kakashi: Saki is back, Fo Ye is back, everyone is back. Yay. Also, our villains are sloooowly going down. Better slow than not at all. SakiVI: Yay! I missed Fo Ye, and Visual Zhang and XinYue! Ba Ye and Er Ye too, though I'll be frank, not as much.   Gorgeous couple. 

kakashi: Saki will be away for a while, which means you have to enjoy this recap a lot and read it very carefully and maybe several times before the next one will be posted. Anyway! I love the Zhang-family mystery (and that it remains a mystery). After many very difficult episodes that challenges my love for this show, this one is a total winner. SakiVI: I love the Zhang family. I kind of wish Little Master could've made an appearance in at least one of the Zhang Family episodes  (HELL YEAH!!!) , but the Zhangs are so amazing overall, I can let that obsession go - a bit.

kakashi: We're (almost) done with the fillers! Yaaaaaay! Fo Ye is back! Well, "back". And Lt Zhang is da bomb. SakiVI: Seriously, during these episodes I almost jumped bias ship.

kakashi: There is a lot of Lt Zhang in this episode and he is awesome. A W E S O M E. Lean back and enjoy the pretty and leave your brain at the door. We're still in filler-land. SakiVI: At least we have our lovely Visual and our lovely Chieftain and our clever, clever Ba Ye.  

SakiVI: In which Ba Ye and Lt Zhang become a pretty lady's white knights. We also get some villain-side story, but it's pointless and covered only in case there are any Nose fans reading this. Skip over and read the Ba Ye & Lt Zhang parts only if you want. kakashi: I call this episode Traps in the Swaps. Because I'm very, very tired and I find that really funny right now . Don't ask. Don't judge. It's funny .

SakiVI: It's Ba Ye Time. I think the actor is getting the requisite line and scenes his agency negotiated for him, while William Chan is getting a break. Huo Niang is shown in a slightly better light than before, and Xin Yue is awesome, per usual. There is even some product placement, which was amusing.       kakashi: In short, Bae-Time, when you drop the "Y". Seriously, the product placement is the best. Also, and people who have watched animé based on mangas before know what I'm talking about, we're entering a filler arc now. Random place, random people, random plot. I didn't even know what picture to choose here for the top.
