Flower of Evil 악의 꽃 - Episode 9 (Recap)

Image
kakashi: I don't even know where to start... so many things happen in this (long! It takes me hours to recap!) episode. From breaking-up to missing that person like crazy to old feelings being rekindled to the revalation that this is not about just one bad guy and his accomplice but that a whole fucking criminal operation is part of the picture. JoAnne: Thankfully for us viewers, the writer is handling all of these details pretty skillfully. In lesser hands I think that particular addition would really have just sent the whole story off the rails.

Flower of Evil 악의 꽃 - Episode 8 (Recap)

Image
kakashi: This episode is defined by love and heartache. It made me realize that the one character who we are told cannot feel or recognize emotions is the one calling out all the emotions and accurately at that. This episode is also defined by lies. The only character who seems truly committed to truth is Hae-su who gets away with murder so easily so far, it makes me wonder what else the show has in store for her. JoAnne: I don't get it. He clearly feels emotions. I think he's more reserved than most, but for those he loves, he shows what he feels. He always loved his sister, even as a child. I'm not saying he doesn't have some issues but I think that diagnosis was wrong.

Flower of Evil 악의 꽃 - Episode 7 (Recap)

Image
kakashi: I wouldn't want Ji-won as my enemy. She's damn scary.  JoAnne: She IS, isn't she. I still think there's something about her we don't know.

Flower of Evil 악의 꽃 - Episode 6 (Recap)

Image
kakashi: We continue down the rabbit hole of ugly reveals and new twists, near-hits and not-quite misses. I'm still impressed by the quality of this script AND the acting of our two leads. JoAnne: I'm with you - it gets better every week and with a story this twisty usually it we'd be seeing some WTF moments but nope - this story and the people telling it are terrific!

Flower of Evil 악의 꽃 - Episode 5 (Recap)

Image
kakashi: Shit hits the fan and blood begins to flow. Something tells me it's not the last time I'm going to say that before the end of this drama.  JoAnne: We are in deep doo doo, it is true. But I am left feeling that this drama will now become Wifey helping Hubby reclaim his good teenage name and I am ALLLLLLLLLL about it.

Flower of Evil 악의 꽃 - Episode 4 (Recap)

Image
kakashi: Nice. Just fool us, drama :D The tables turn, then turn again. Feeling as dizzy as I am?  JoAnne: I just keep focused on the belief that Hyun Su is misunderstood. Well, not misunderstood, but badly treated and ostracized and backed into corners. Having a personality disorder does not make you a killer. Having a crazy, serial killer father does not make you a killer. I'm staking my heart on him being a peaceful person at his core.

Flower of Evil 악의 꽃 - Episode 3 (Recap)

Image
kakashi: For the entire length of this episode, my heart beat way too fast. Goddammit, what a ride! Things aren't what they seem or are they? The plot thickens but then again... not at all.  JoAnne: I love another damaged JoonGi creation. Is anyone even the least bit surprised? He's a bit like your wolf here, right?   Poor pup . Yes!  *sobs*

Flower of Evil 악의 꽃 - Episode 2 (Recap)

Image
kakashi: Hm, I might be wrong about everything I said at the end of episode 2. Our Male Lead might well be a psychopathic serial killer for all we know. And yet, the drama manages to make me pity the young him. How mean everybody was... JoAnne: I'm with you. Well, he's certainly the son of one at least and the whole thing about his emotions? Could have knocked me over with a FEATHER.

Flower of Evil 악의 꽃 - Episode 1 (Recap)

Image
kakashi: The older I get, the fewer weaknesses I have, but Lee Joon-gi remains one as does Kim Ji-hoon. I'm going to recap this drama anyway because they're both in it even though it's tvN (= very long episodes). With episode 1, we're off to a swift start , have no clue what's going on and meet a ton of characters. I'm intrigued. JoAnne: That's funny - I find I indulge myself a lot more, return to things I liked as a child, even.  Dollhouses, sewn toys, all that. I don't have much time these days but I do love a good Joon Gi drama and Kim Ji Hoon is always a treat, and I have missed working on KDramas with my dear friend here.  The story could suck donkey (insert your word here, there are several) and I would still jump to participate. In fact, the bad ones are the ones we have the most fun on! (But this one is not bad.)

Lee Joon-gi and... his Hair (an Update)

Image
kakashi: My 2013 " Lee Jun-ki and his Hair "-post is getting a lot of hits these days. I wonder why that is.... Haha, who am I kidding, I know why!!!! It's the power of his beautiful, beautiful face!! And fine, fine, because you're all asking for it, I'll do a new one. The rules of my " hair posts " are relatively simple. We talk about a guy's hair. Nothing else. Performance for example? Doesn't matter. Just the hair does. JoAnne: As I think you can tell from some previous items here, hair matters to me. My kind of post!

Special Moon Lovers RAWR - So(o) in Love

Image
kakashi: For me, Moon Lovers / Scarlet Heart Ryeo is not primarily about the romance - it is about the princes and their rivalry. Mainly No 8 and No 4's rivalry, to be precise. And at the heart of that rivalry is Soo. Which means this drama is about romance even if it isn't, I guess, ha! After Wook's abandonment of Hae-Soo in her hour of greatest need, there is probably not many people left who ship these two together. And yet, Wook loves her. JoAnne: I agree. He does love her. He just loves other things more. Does he? I am not sure. I think he really means that thing about power; he wants power to be able to live the life he wants to live. He wants to see his mother and sister safe and he wants to marry Hae-soo. He, just like So, does not actually desire power. Power is a means to an end, and that end has a lot to do with Hae-soo. I think it starts that way. I don't think it stays that way. I don't think it's that way, already.

Special Moon Lovers RAWR - The King Question

Image
kakashi: Since we realized that we have an extra lot to say about this drama, and we want to say it now, we decided to do a series of extra posts about it. In this one, we will ponder the "King Question". JoAnne: Among all the princes, So shows both the strength and character necessary to be King. Mu may have the character, but without So to help him he'll never keep that throne. Yo and Wook are flawed in ways that will make them terrible leaders. The others are not even in consideration .   Also because the drama does not even try to let them be more than comical relief or time fillers. But it's okay, they're entertaining enough. Let's face it, we couldn't handle any more than we've been given.  Could we? Hmmmm.

A Princely RAWR

Image
kakashi: Mama JoAnne got us to do a Princes' tribute. One, two princes kneel before you, lalalaaaa, princes, princes who adore you, lalalaaaaaa, three, four and five and six and seeeeeven. Oh, actually, there are eight? It's pretty clear who our favorite is. No, it's not eight.

Two Weeks in Two Minutes

Image
Two Weeks finished airing over a month ago, but is still available streaming if you're like me and prefer marathoning completed shows to the bittersweet agony of waiting for the EngSub episodes to come out week by week. It is basically a 16-episode kDrama version of The Fugitive (the TV series). In honor of its (reasonably) fast pace and fugitive premise, here’s a 2-minute rundown of its key points. This post is free of major spoilers, but does include some that I consider to be reasonably minor. To get you in the mood while you read, here’s Run , by Nell, Two Weeks’ pulsing theme song:

"The whole world will be yours" - Or Missing Lee Jun-ki

Image
I really, really, really miss Lee Jun-ki. It is strange, how we miss certain people sometimes, right? I don't know what it is that makes me miss this one more than others that have been absent from my bedroom for a while. Oups, did I just say that??? This could be misunderstood. But I always watch my dramas in my bedroom. Which is actually not the bedroom I sleep in ... but never mind. Oh, and correction: Lee Jun-ki isn't even completely absent from the bedroom-I-don't-sleep-in! I have postcards of his on my bookshelf. And a signed Iljimae CD. So ... he kinda watches over me whenever I watch something. Nice ... but not enough. I want this man back on my screen! Pronto!   To miss him a little less until he gets back on my screen in a few months (hopefully), I sat down to write this post - with lots of pretty Joongi pictures (credit as tagged). Let's start with this recent Twitter and Weibo addition, with the tag line "The whole world will be yours":    ...

Lee Jun-ki and ... his Present from Switzerland

Image
It is here! What, you ask? The fruits of Lee Jun-ki's Swiss visit of course !!! Yes, I have been waiting for it ever since Joongi was here, in this very city. There are four items to get. A gift package (wow); two posters (more wow); an L-holder (which is what exactly?!); and a Post-It (uhm .... also not sure what that is. I mean, I know what Post-Its are, but I'm guessing the Joongi post-its are not exactly the post-its I know)

Random Thoughts on ... Lee Jun-ki's Face in Time Between Dog and Wolf (Part IV)

Image
This is my last post of Lee Jun-ki's awesomness. At least his awesomeness in Time Between Dog and Wolf . I am pretty sure I will soon have the chance to cover a new project of yours, yes?! Happy (belated) Valentine's Day, Everybody!

Random Thoughts on ... Lee Jun-ki's Awesomness in Time Between Dog and Wolf (Part III)

Image
Lee Jun-ki has the most amazing eyes ever. True, that's not exactly news, is it? Lee Jun-ki can really, really act. Haha, not exactly news either. I think Lee Jun-ki should pick his next project! 빨리! 빨리 Yeah, everybody knows that too ...  Oh well. Here's more pictures. At least they are new, cause I just took them! (though technically from an over 5 year old drama .... oh well, better times will come for you to write something smart, kakashi, just you wait ....)
