The Problematic of the Unproblematic

Anne: This week has been a very slow drama week for me. Mostly due to work. I spent a lot of time editing protocols and trying to streamline validation so that each person don't have like 150 samples and won't have to stay like 12 hours in lab. So this week's post will be very short, limited to the one show that I did finish. Hopefully, other readers were able to catch some interesting dramas that seems to be pouring out of production companies lately. I do wonder how much stock they have on the shelves. One of these days, someone should just buy the entire lot and start airing the ones that never made it on to the screen. Before we get started on the one show I finished, I have one little, little, tiny rant. What in the world is going with Chinese drama depiction of overseas research?! Is this some kind of coordinated propaganda? Why does every single scientific related show recently starts with some wacko western lab trying to "prevent" their Chinese researcher ...

Anne: Another week goes by and I think I need more sleep. And good gracious how many dramas aired last week? I didn't even have time to take a peek at most of them. I haven't watched the rest of Forever and Ever  so we will leave these two love birds for discussion next week. The Founder of Diabolism -- Final Season If anyone has been watching the anime The Founder of Diabolism...it illustrated one of the MOST highly anticipated scene, the slightly funny, oddly romantic, and earth shattering moment when Wang Ji bounded Wei Wu Xian's hands with his hand band and proceeded to show him off to the youngsters.  As most of you know...the ONLY person who didn't understand the meaning of this was the one being bound. Even the kids knew what was going on. Lan SiZhui wisely blocked the truth from spilling out...with that famous piece of chick leg. The other interesting thing is that Wei Wu Xian did realize what the head band really meant. I never liked how they did this in the dr...

Anne: Another week passes and more work has piled on. How is this even possible?! My weekend pretty much was spent sleeping and keeping my five year old entertained. We do a lot of these projects. And we have completed each of these more than 6 times. Although, truth to tell, I do most of the work; he just help picks out the packets and stir. I have to say that I have gotten pretty good with these things. Now that I have demonstrated my obvious artistic skills...let's get on with a bit of discussion on the shows that I managed to watch this week. (Update: Have anyone ever met a more dramatic 5 year old? He had one little band-aid on his thigh where he got his shot. He screamed bloody murder when I tried to pull it off in the bath. Anne: This weekend I decided to "get back into my youth" by taking up inline skating again as a way to help my son be more interested in biking. Yes, I know this doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it did when I was standing in Target, looking at bike PPEs for the little one. What I have concluded after 20 minutes on those skates were...That was one supremely IDIOTIC idea. I am still amazed that I only ended up with some scraped elbows, a sore knee, and a sore neck. Seriously, if I go missing on this blog, it's probably because I'm in the hospital with a concussion, or broken wrist/arm. While I'm still mostly intact, let's get to discussing the 3 shows I managed to watch this week. One and Only Yes, I succumbed and started this drama. I can't help it, it has both Bai Lu  and Allen Ren, whom I still think oozes sex appeal in costume. It's not an easy feat with all those layers of clothing! Also, the sequel Forever and Ever started airing this wee...

Anne: The first week of school is over and I have come to a realization... 5 year old conversations...if they were spoken by a group of adults, everyone would think they were insane, or at least mentally unstable. My son came home one day and this was the stream of words that came out of his mouth, in all seriousness, "Phoebe says that she's going to teach me magic. She says she knows magic and can do all sorts of stuff. But I think she's fooling me. Because I don't think she knows magic. Angel knows magic. He says that he can turn his dad into a penny. That's pretty cool, I think." What do I follow this up with? All I did was nod and went, "Oh, I see..." Now I want to know what other "discussions" have been happening with no adult supervision. The other thing I wonder... maybe this is how some of the drama writers have been getting their inspirations. It would make a LOT of sense.  Shuk: FINALLY Trotwood: Finally. Appropriate, too. Since I'm not going to be blogging anymore for awhile. Work is too stressful and too busy. Spending most of my vacation being bitter that I have to go back to work and researching ways in which I might not have to go back to work for long. I'm really feeling like I'm getting too old for the crap and pressure that I put up with. But at least I haven't been blown up and gone down a trash flume slide! Wow. This episode is almost two hours!!  Kmuse: It has been so long that I almost feel I need to rewatch the whole drama to remember everything. But then I remind myself that you can only spend so much of one's life staring at gangsters staring on stairs.

Anne: Spent the weekend playing MarioKart, or rather I watched the other adults play while I try to keep my 5 year old calm as he wonders why his "stupid" car isn't turning correctly. I have to remind him that driving with one hand while jerking the wheel one side to another isn't really the best method to keep your car on the road and not crashing into walls. Gosh I hope this isn't a foreshadowing of his future driving skills. And I also saw part of the new Paw Patrol movie...I think this production company decided to take a page from the Chinese Fantasy genre. Everything was super BRIGHT and all the colors somehow looked weird. I do again have to apologize for my lack of drama watching this week. I also stopped grouping the drama by country of origin due to the limited shows that I watch.  Do I chance it? Anne: Is it already another week? Where did all the time go? The only thing I seem to remember this week is going to Walgreens at least 3 times. Why so many trips? Because I always end up forgetting to buy the one thing that I was going to buy. Anyway, my life is pretty boring really, work and home, nothing too exciting. So let's not bored everyone with mundane things, let's get on with the discussions for this week. I do have to apologize as I actually do not have too much to post this week. I will focus mainly on one drama that has turned out to be super super addicting.  Interesting...but I just don't have the time Ideal City. I saw this pop up on iQiyi this past week. The pre-veiws were all very interesting. It's looks like a great story of a determined woman and her career journey breaking through the good-ole-boys network. And it has Mark Chao. But it's slated at 40 episodes, and it seems quite emotionally engaging (as in I will have to devote emotional energy...
