La Femme Nikita - Escape (S01E08) (Recap)

Image
Another strong episode, featuring an unforgettable "seduction" scene. Who would have known that doing a finger dance can be so damn erotic?! Nikita is severely tested in this episode and almost makes the mistake of her life (which would certainly have cost her her life), but Michael manages to save her ... by probably destroying every last bit of trust she ever had in him in the process. But isn't it a sign of true love if you are ready to jeopardize a deep friendship (or budding love, even) in order to save a person's life?

La Femme Nikita - Treason (S01E07) (Recap)

Image
Nikita becomes a "full-fledged operative", but life certainly doesn't get easier for her. Again, her compassion gets her into trouble, but this time, she turns her "weakness" into strength and solves a tricky issue for Section almost by herself. There isn't a whole lot of Michael in this episode, and almost no Michael-Nikita, because this episode is ultimately about her emancipation. She is a big girl now. Deal with it, Section!

La Femme Nikita - Love (S01E06) (Recap)

Image
What is better than Nikita going on an undercover mission? Nikita going on an undercover mission together with Michael! And, on top of that, an undercover mission that requires them to be lovers! This episode is one of the best in Season 1. Interestingly enough, it also was the first episode of the entire series to be filmed. Somebody probably thought: let's give Wilson and Dupuis something sexually charged and sizzling, to make sure they forge a "good" working relationship right away. Hehe, I'm not complaining. Apparently, the script was considered so good that many aspects of it made a reappearance in Season 5 of 24 (yup, the nerve gas season), another Joel Surnow/Robert Cochran smash hit.

La Femme Nikita - Mother (S01E05) (Recap)

Image
Episode 5 is another undercover episode, again with an intriguing pair of baddies, and more parallels to Nikita's old life as a (quasi) motherless street child. Her relationship with Michael remains complicated as sacrifices need to be made - and Section doesn't care who lives and who dies.

La Femme Nikita - Charity (S01E04) (Recap)

Image
In this episode, Nikita is sent on her first "Valentine Operation" and Section shows its ugly, manipulative (true) self. So does Michael, at least partially ... but I cannot be angry with him for long. He is just too beautiful. And too conflicted. And we know he really is one of the good guys ... or is he not? This is also the episode that, once reached, has sealed your faith: you will now watch this show to the end. For Michael. And for Michael and Nikita.

La Femme Nikita - Simone (S01E03) (Recap)

Image
This is an episode in which we get a glimpse into Michael's past. We learn that he once loved deeply - and that he might love again. Maybe. At least we now know that he is indeed capable of emotions. Nikita is the strong one, for once, and their bond grows much deeper. This is a mixed bag of an episode - there are some awesome Nikita-Michael scenes, but there also is a lot of questionable writing.

La Femme Nikita - Friend (S01E02) (Recap)

Image
In the second episode, Nikita already goes against Section in order to save an "innocent" childhood friend. She is such a trouble-magnet ... We learn that trusting people isn't anything one should do, especially not in the vile world Nikita lives in. We also learn that Michael lies to Section for her. Hm. interesting.

La Femme Nikita - Nikita (S01E01) (Recap)

There is one show that I return to again and again, at least every two years. It is the cult classic La Femme Nikita (1997-2001). I am deeply in love with this show, have been ever since I first watched it, and will be until my last dying breath. On my current re-watch - brought on by my severe disappointment over most of 2013's KDrama - I have realized that nobody seems to have ever properly recapped this drama. Meaning: with screencaps and gifs and a whole lot of squees. But oh man, does this show deserve to be recapped (even though or really because it isn't KDrama)! And oh man, I will so do it. Let's see how far I'll get! La Femme Nikita is based on Luc Bessons film of the same name, at least in its fundamentals (=the basic characters). It is a dark and paranoid spy drama with a noir touch, centered on Nikita (played by the incredibly beautiful and incredibly kick-ass Peta Wilson), who is framed for murder and then taken from a lifetime of prison to work for S

aka The Prime Minster and I Came From The Stars for Miss Korea ...plus some variety shows Heirs has come and gone (and I'm still wondering why I watched that show). The glow from Master's Sun is about to fade and WGM is well past its honeymoon stage.  Only Reply 1994 is keeping me at my computer. *Team OPPA all the WAY!* If you're like me you're getting twitchy. You're thinking, what do I watch? What are my new show options? Should I be getting into variety shows? What's on air right now? Lets see...

The Heirs - Episode 20 FINALE ("Heirs Today; Gone Tomorrow")

Image
cherkell: ALRIGHTY PEOPLE!!! ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?!? Or at least ready to hammer a nail in the coffin that is “The Heirs?” Here we are at Episode 20 – Finale Time – and not a moment too soon. Let’s get this party started… so we can finish early. I’m old, remember? Shuk:  There's a production error of a boom mike popping down on one of the scenes.  If you can find it, have a shot of soju! JoAnne: Do we all agree that the production team muted Sex Heir out of concern for us? Because if both Woob and Choi Jin Hyuk had been allowed to be their completely swagtastic sexy sexy Sex God selves...we'd be dead.

The Heirs - Episode 19 (A Final SqueeCap and Toast: Heir's To What Might Have Been)

Image
Hi everyone!  This is Shukmeister on what will be my final SqueeCap recap. I appreciated everyone who joined the funhouse ride with me in April 2013 with "When A Man Loves - Episode 2" .  I also expect bigger and better things from my chingu in the future! kakashi: It is a dangerous thing to say "my final SqueeCap". These suckers have a tendencies to sneak up behind you and tackle you to the ground when you least expect it. But you're always welcome to change your mind when that happens. JoAnne:  Hmmm.

The Heirs - Episode 18 (Nheirly at the End!)

Image
kakashi: It's the final countdown .... tüdütüdüüüü, tüdütütüdüüüüü, tütütüdütüüüü, tüdütütütütütüüütüdüüüü tüdütüdütütütüütüüüüüütüüüüüüüüü. Are we sure there are not going to be any sneak-attack extensions though?? Ah. So close. So close... cherkell:  If this sucker does get extended, I will not be responsible for What Happens Next.  You have been warned.  JoAnne: You don't see me. I'm not here.

The Heirs - Episode 17 (Heir'body Cheer Up! Hey, hey, hey...)

Image
JoAnne: Ughhhhh what do I do there's nothing to write Tan is sad and Young Do is mad and everyone else is everyone else and ughhhhhh. kakashi: Waitaminute. Aren't you supposed to LOVE this drama??! What is happening?? Heirs has just lost one of its most ardent admirers!! Episode 17

Golden Era of Daughters In Law - Episode 7 (KimJiCap)

Image
We have now reached YouTube territory, dear readers, so join me in watching this! It is worth it!  Episode 7 Boksu meets Dooly in the market place ... and tells her to buy a present (fruit basket) beforehand. Oh wow, he is really going to do it ... And oh wow, she is in a foul mood. And oh wow, he is shocked when he sees her new dressed-up self!! Abort! Abort!!! This is definitely not grandma material ...

Golden Era of Daughters In Law - Episode 6 (KimJiCap)

Image
It has been more than two weeks since my last GEoDIL post! For reasons well-known to you, I would think ... had to life-stalk our lead! Too bad the meet-up didn't happen. There is no point in being too angry with him, though, since it most likely isn't his fault at all. So, let's soldier on! Episode 6 Boksu is worried about his Dooly, who still hasn't turned up to work. Yeah, you broke her heart, you meanie! Dooly is still in bed, hiding from the cruel world and her broken heart, while her mother, the happiness coach, lectures a room full of giggling women about how you need to love yourself, be strong, and not mope after a man.

Poll Results - We Heir Your Voice

Image
The Poll results are in. And (not surprisingly you hopeless romantics you) 51% of you thought Young Do was redeemable.  15% thought it'll never happen and a whopping 32% didn't really care either way.  *slow clap* True enough, writer-nim made him fall in love. What I absolutely love is that he's still a bit of an ass. This was one of my favorite scenes

The Heirs: When Fashion Crimes Are Quasi Art (Part II)

Image
And it continues. While we (well, some of us at least!) wait for this show to finally end (please no extensions! Please! Please!!), we present you with more Tan fashion crimes. But BE WARNED! This post may hurt your eyes!

The Heirs - Episode 16 (Heirly You Jest!)

Image
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!  I am hoping you're still full of tryptophan-laced poultry products in order to make it through this episode in a dream-like state.  Strap yourselves in, because here we go! JoAnne:  I'm so ready!

The Heirs - Episode 15 (I Can't Do A Thing With My Heir)

Image
Shuk:  We are three-quarters of the way through this thing, and we finally see some battle lines drawn. Okay, if you are doing a drinking game based on how many staring scenes are in this episode, your liver will still be in pain.  But we get some baby steps forward, and maybe a steely-jaw moment or two from our lead.  But for the record, I don't like Young-do with his fangs pulled because of love! [sob] EPISODE 15 SHUKNOTE: Since Kim Tan has become a possessive fool who just makes everyone's situations worse, and Young-do has actually joined the ranks of humanity, however flawed, I will no longer call either by their monikers "Good" or "Bad".  I'm still working on replacements, though. Bear with me. Shuk:  Kissyface at the party.  Actually, kissyforehead.  Oh well.  Is that what happens when you drink Neon Lime Gatorade out of champagne glasses?  No thank you, gimme the real stuff and let's play tonsil hockey. cherkell:  Argh. Drin

Kim Ji-hoon NOT in Switzerland - The End

Image
Ah, chingus .... let me tell you, I had a crazy weekend. So much fun! It would have been awesome (yeah, MORE awesome) if the Korean had shown up, but, alas ... the rumors I caught on Friday before I left must be true. I read on a Japanese website that the show (World Challenge) is about to be cancelled. And I guess that just meant: no more filming (and spending of money). source: http://ameblo.jp/aquarius59
