Rants and Weekly Raves (RAWR) #479
Anne: Hello Drama Lovers! How did all these weeks go by so quickly?! After dealing with a lice infestation and a bad ease of the flu. And all the other crazy things at work ... I am tired.
Yes, you read that correctly... Lice!
Now, I was always under the impression that the school nurse checked these things. It was this way when I was in elementary. I guess a few things changed in the last 30 years because I never saw any notice. And here's how I found lice in my son's hair.
About 4 months ago , my son asked me what lice was. Told him that there were many different types , and the ones that little Kids usually get live on their hair. Now, I still have no idea why his teacher brought up the topic. I certainly didn't get any notice or note from the school. So, this talk about lice made the boy thinks that he has them. To be fair , I did look at his hair . But because I thought the school would send me a note , I didn't look that closely.
So, a few months go by, and in late January, he tells me that he pulled something "white" out of his hair... I was still not completely convinced, thinking that he got fuzz in his hair. I started going through his hair, and it looked like there was something odd. I took a flashlight and put on my reading glasses...and I saw these white dots in his hair...evenly spaced...and I was like...oh oh. Looks like eggs. But I didn't say anything because I have never seen lice. I started flipping through his "long" hair (because he wanted shoulder length hair) and it didn't take long to see something move.
This is not a picture of the bugs I've found in his hair because I was rushing out the door to pick up lice shampoo. I spent the next 3 hours trying to get whatever I could out of his hair. I had to get my husband to shave the back of his head in a way that didn't look like he had a hair cut, because this little boy really, really LOVE his hair.
My husband got freakout enough to shave his head. Then we went through his entire room and the living room clean what we could. And I've been doing a weekly check every since.
First of all, I cannot believe no other parents with kids in his class, noticed anything. There was no way he was the only one. (No, it wasn't from last year, it probably was only a couple of weeks. I called the nurse and sent a note to his teacher. I don't know if a notice was sent, but I never saw one. Hence why I'm checking every single week.
He never really had a lot of itching and I guess my eyes are just really bad, because I never noticed. And I do mess with his hair, not often, but definitely more than once a week. And I'm the one who washes hair! Anyway... I find this is one positive about my being anti-social when I was younger, a lot less likely of getting contaminations from other kids...hahaha.
A week or so goes by and the boy then gets sick... as in periodic fevers, headaches, body aches, and stomachaches. This lasted for 4 days, and when it still hadn't subsided, I took him to the doctor. It turned out that the boy had bad case of the flu. On that day, my husband got sick. I told him next year both of them need to get their flu shots. Sigh...
Okay, that was my last few weeks...in addition to the craziness going on at work...I have little desire to watch anything new. So...instead of writing a review of what I've watched, I thought I change this up and write about the reason why I DIDN'T click "play" on these new dramas. Maybe someone can change my mind?
Zhan Zhao Adventures
Okay...before I get into the why I wasn't watching those other dramas, let me do a quick mention of Yang Yang's new upcoming drama. The reason I'm bringing this up is because I saw that he will be on a variety show next week, and made me realize that I haven't seen him in a while. From what I read on MDL, Yang Yang's character is a hero named Zhan Zhao, who helps out a girl escaping from her marriage. He falls into ambush in order for the girl to escape and gives her vital evidence against (I assume) someone powerful. The girl then meets up with a young hero named Shao Ji Zu, and they work together to rescue Zhan Zhao and saves the world. I really like the way Yang Yang looks in costume.
Si Jin
At first look, this is definitely up my alley, a costume rebirth drama where the FL died literally because the ML killed her. I actually did hit play for like 5 minutes...and it is VERY obvious that the ML didn't really expect the person he shot at to be the FL. Um... seems like another misunderstandings galore drama. I do think I will like the crime solving aspects. I do really like how Zhang Wan Yi looks in costume. I even rooted for him in Lost You Forever even when he was an A-hole because he was a cutie. Now... if I can only get pass the misunderstanding plot line, or at least what I THINK will be a bunch of misunderstandings...I might enjoy the crime solving. Maybe I'll just FF the episodes.

This one I caught on because of the variety show I often watch and Tan Jian Ci is a frequent guest/host. I actually first saw him in this variety show and it was from this show that promoted him heavily that led me to watch him in the dramas. And the first drama I watched with him staring was Under the Skin. He was as super sexy baddie in Lost You Forever, and that drama really elevated his popularity (despite him already having a career in music/dance...apparently). So... The drama was billed as a romance comedy, about a woman who through a high-tech bracelet, was able to change her appearance.
Again, I did press play for like 5 minutes...where the FL "caught" the man harassing woman on the bus. I'm not so sure how a woman who keeps breaking the ML's heart (according to MDL) plot line can be a romance comedy, so I'll have to see if I have enough energy to set through this one. It has a fairly good rating, and I do LIKE the ML a LOT...so maybe I'll spend some time later taking a deeper look at this one.
Undercover High School
The first thought when I saw this title was...wait, when did my story become a Korean drama :D Yes, you've read that correctly, I wrote a teenage romance novel when I was in high school, about a pair of high school students who were "recruited" to be "spies" in their high school in order to infiltrate a drug dealing ring. (Yes, it was a VERY exciting novel that had a part 2 when they grew up.)
The Korean version is obviously an adult going undercover in a high school of the wealthy and powerful (the whole Heirs setup). It'll be interesting to see how a NIS agent deals with spoiled rich kids but recently I'm too tired to reach subtitles. Yes, this is how tired I am!
But this is also along my favorite plots...adults acting as kids. So once I get past my laziness of not wanting to read subtitles, I'll get started on this one.
Kill My Sins
Now this one, I had all the hopes to start. It has a, seemingly, strong female character, a wondering doctor who is accused of witch craft due to her ability to be able to see inside people's minds...or something. I only saw like 20 minutes or so of the first episode, so I only got to the part where Yuan Shao Cheng brought her up on charges for murder. I like the overall look of the drama. I like the color schemes even. Feels like a heavy drama though...so I have to prepare myself for this one. But...as soon as I enough sleep and patience after my work is driving my crazy...I can start taking a look at this.
And this is about as much of the recent dramas that I can go through today. I have a lot more that I have took a peek at, but for one reason or another, I never went beyond the first few minutes.
As I'm working through all the difficulties at work, my attention span can only managed to watch the short dramas.
If anyone has any ideas about how to break myself out of this slump...I'm all ears!
Hope everyone has a great week! And here's to me catching something that I'll be interested to watch soon!
