Rants and Weekly Raves (RAWR) #487

Anne: Happy New Year drama lovers! (I really feel like I should change the title to "monthly" raves...considering how slow I have been with publishing posts.)

I don't know what black cloud decided to descend on me since January 1st, 2026, because I have been flooded with one crazy event after another...at WORK! (As a side note, I might have to rethink my idea of going overseas for a job. I recently got an offer for a director position that was 40K less than what I'm making now. Hm...maybe I need to wait until I can apply for an executive position...)

The only thing that I can really say about work is...now I really regret getting trained on all those quality records. While I really like learning different things, especially things that you really can't learn from a classroom sitting, the downside is that my work scope gets expanded. (However, you all know my workaholic soul does like being needed...hahahaha....)

As part of my annual review feedback, my boss said that I am very good at seeing difficult things through and conducting difficult conversations. All of a sudden, I had an epiphany... I always knew that I never take things personally at work, and this trait definitely helps. But I think the other thing that really helps is my very bad memory. So, even is I get yelled at earlier, I won't remember...

And this led me to my other revelation (the stress at work must have opened up a previously unused part of my brain...), I think my bad memory is leading to my inability to recognize people. During the last year or so, it has become increasingly clear that I definitely have an issue with recognizing people's faces. Forget the fact that a lot of people at work know who I am, but I have absolutely no idea who they are. It takes a lot of effort for me to remember...and the easiest way for me to remember is the other person say something about an event or a "scene" of the the last time we've met. I have walk through my memory in a winding trail before I find what or whom I was looking for. My only hope that my puzzlement as I'm searching through my memory isn't that obvious on my face...how embarrassing for me...carrying on a conversation when I have no idea who you are.

All right, I think that is enough of my ranting about my life. The goal this year is to take vacation! Yay! (Although I really need to also sign up the little boy for his summer camps...I'm already late.)

Now, for the what I did manage to watch in the start of 2026.

The Imperial Coroner (Season 2)

How excited was I when I saw this come on air? Quite.

I'm not sure why there is a season 2. Prince An and Chu Chu and the rest of the gang are back! I can't believe that Leng Yue married Jing Yi, but I guess having a cute and silly husband is also a good thing (I have that...hehehehe).

And from the first episode, they are off!

Truth be told, I only got through episode 10. There is something...a bit annoying about this season. I want to say that it has to do with the writers taking the story of the CP into the same old pacing of misunderstandings in their marriage. From how the characters were built in season 1, I won't think that this would be an issue.

Now...if anyone has finished this, let me know. How many episodes should I FF through and get to the crime solving part.

Love Between the Lines

This one kind of reminded me of Love O2O, the on-line and off-line relationship cross over. Xian Zhi Yu and Hu Xiu in a very elaborate Whodunnit mystery game. (I mean if this actually exist in real like it would be AWESOME!)

I do love the game visual!

Why do I get the feeling that was a lamb being stalked by a wolf?

I have only just started. I hope she gets smarter.

How Dare You!

What is with all my short drama plot lines coming onto the big screen?

Wang Cui Hua, while trying to re-write a novel she doesn't like into something that isn't a tired troupe. While working late, her friend wishes her a happy birthday, and tells her to make a wish. And she decides to make an impossible wish - to transmigrate into the stupid novel she was reading...

Of course, she transmigrate into a cannon fodder character. She decides to survive as best as she can, even though she hoped that she had read the novel a little bit closely.

When she met the emperor, the villain of the story, she realizes that he was using modern speaking wording. So... she decided to test him out...with English.

The person inside the villain emperor also transmigrated into the novel around the same time.

Let's see how this silly plot line advances.

So... what has this taught me? Definitely read novels in detail... you never know when you will need it.

And this is all I have for this week.

I am also quite excite about Bai Lu's new drama. Let's see how these mystery plots will be.

Hope everyone have a great new year!
