The Problematic of the Unproblematic

Hello everyone!  This is Shukmeister, taking a small respite from the SqueeCapping, I decided to look back and do a listing of some of my favorite KDrama lip-to-lip action scenes. They are in no particular order or timeframe of watching, but they have stuck in my brain and heart over weeks, months and years.  Enjoy! Secret Garden (2010) This one is a favorite for several reasons.  It's just a tiny kiss, with a little forehead to forehead action, but when Joo-won tells her that his company stock is crashing because the heir has fallen for a stuntwoman and ruined the merger of a lifetime - that just made me melt.  It's like the two little words, "I do", that, in the infinitesimal moment you say them, can carry over into a lifetime's commitment.

You might have guessed that I really, really, really want Kim Ji-hoon to pick his next drama project. Like, yesterday. Not that I am missing Flower Boy Next Door - the show had its time and it was good but it is also good that it is over - but I do miss the feeling that came with anticipating the show. Two special episodes have aired (or is it one in two parts?), which I haven't yet seen. I'm sure they are sweet and everyone is gorgeous. And then ... there is Kim Ji-hoon going to a movie premier with Park Shin-hye! OMG! They have always been rather busy tweeting each other and they are keeping this up even after shooting for FBND has ended. It is sweet ... and a little bit suspicious?!  Oh! This is fun!!! Who can name all the celebrities?! Check your Hallyu-knowledge! Kim J-hoon and Park Shin-hye are adorable together. I really hope they actually ARE together!  This is what she tweeted:  "아 머리아퍼ㅠㅠ 오늘 진락씨랑 영화데이트했어요 ㅇㅅㅇ 3D안경쓰고 신났음"  (which equals ...

Will this do instead of a review? ^.^ Dear friends, I am too lazy (or should I say unmotivated?) to write a long farewell post for this show. So many bloggers have already written reviews, good and excellent ones, so you don't need me to write another good one. I'll just do a bad, lazy one then, ok?  The + Let me just say that I enjoyed the show, mostly, for its quietness and its portrayal of normal, everyday people. I also liked it because its episodes were only 45 minutes long. Seriously, KDrama in general would hugely profit from shorter episodes. I liked the way it was shot (especially the subdued colors) and I really liked making gifs, because there were so many funny and cute scenes. It was a veritable gif-fest every Monday and Tuesday! I liked Park Shin-hye's natural beauty and her acting. Though I am nothing like her character, I appreciated the way it was written, and the way she was allowed to change and get over the hurts of her past. I also liked lov...

And so it ends! Fuzzy, fuzzy, warm, warm feelings ... If you're afraid of spoilers, don't read any further and don't look at any of the gifs! Don't say I didn't warn you!! STOP!! Flower Boy Next Door manages to give everybody a happy (or at least good) ending that does not feel forced or rushed. Wow. That must be a first! And the final scene is hilarious. Unfortunately, there are no Jin-rak gifs tonight (apart from a very brief appearance in one) - but let me assure you, things turn out well for him, too. Thought No 1: Thank you, show, for not pairing Jin-rak with Do-hwi. I'm forever grateful. His (future) happiness is related to a cameo by Park Se-Young and I am really glad I finally know why Park Shin-hye posted two twitter pics with her in the last days, cause that really confused me. Thought No 2: Yoon Shi-yoon looks so much better with black hair. I guess I'm glad he only has it for a few minutes and in the last episode; I already have too many K-...

"I was jealous of the ocean because of the way you looked at it" awwwwwwwwwz! ♥♥♥♥ See, I was never too annoyed about the "noble idiocy", because I trusted the writers of this drama to make it different from the usual noble idiocy. Rightly so. He's not buying it and we get some nice and very real interactions between two new lovers, full of insecurity and jealousy. We also get some silly, from both Dok-mi and Enrique, and I must admit that Enrique's antiques are getting a bit old. This drama was wonderful and such an unexpected surprise - but it is okay that this drama is ending tomorrow. And we get the best 2nd lead ever. Oh my god, how I love him... Have I mentioned how much I like Kim Ji-hoon's hair? Hmmm .... I want to ruffle it. And not every man cries prettily. Kim Ji-hoon does. The Awesome Editor is my favorite! Wow! She is the best. In case you don't know yet, she's my girl crush . I want to marry her when I grow up. And ...

Hmmmm ... way to end, drama, thank you very much ... NOT . And the wait for finale week begins! Damnation!!! *mild spoilers* I think can forgive this drama the slight (mis)step into noble idiocy territory. However, I would have preferred a slightly different take. I would have preferred Enrique to make the right decision of his own free will. The right decision, for me, is to go to Spain, do his thing, and then come back. A choice between career and love is hardly ever a choice for either or. He can go to Spain for a while and come back. They can chat with each other on the phone or on skype every single day. She can go with him for a while, or simply visit. He can visit her. Millions of people on this earth have long distance relationships --- and they work! It's really not such a big deal, drama ... E.T. phone home For me, this episode showed particularly well how much Jin-rak has changed through the interactions with both Enrique and Dok-mi. And what a great human being...

Who would have thought that one of the best dramas in KDrama history would be one in which nothing, absolutely nothing happens? Which tells a slow, heartwarming story of a woman, who rediscovers the world thanks to ... a crazy, butt wiggling panda boy? Not me!   This is the episode in which even less than usual happens, but everybody looks and probably feels vulnerable. Yes, even the evil plastic witch. Must I steel myself for some Do-Hwi - Jin-rak loving?! Nooooooooo!! Please don't do this to me, show ...  Poor baby Jin-rak's sadness in this episode almost broke my heart. And the hyung-dongsaeng moment between him and Dong-hoon made me cry a little. Come on, who cares if Jin-rak is a runaway chaebol son! Look at the clothes he is wearing! He seriously doesn't have any money! We are three episodes away from the finale, and there is no angst. Yes. No. Angst. And yet, this is KDrama. I think I'll just watch tvN dramas from now on. And some OCN, because of Vampir...
