Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy 九州海上牧云记 - Episode 14 (Recap)
Panda: A reunion! Actually two :))
kakashi: It's where I get bored for the first time. Could also be the second.
JoAnne: I'm up in the 50's so I don't remember what happens here. I will find out as we go!
This subterranean stuff is really weird.
Very, and I don't like her even if she has cause to feel the way she does. I think she's a little unhinged.
Prince Lu investigates the golden ornament with the help of the book that he mysteriously got (thrown into his quarters by Han Jiang) and deduces that it’s a map to the Long Yuan Chamber. He decides to go searching for it.
...and the seal, right? Prince Lu is a cutie (when he doesn't cry) and is also quite clever!
Oh God, the crying. This thing, I like it as much as Trot likes the compass thing in Weasel's Grave.
Su Yu Ning’s dad after being pestered for her hand in marriage to a random Prince Jing, sends her off to go live with Nanny in Yishui village. All this takes place under the watchful/stalker eyes of Han Jiang who follows her.
He went straight to his lady love. Awwww.
That face. Awwww.
She gets to said village and is led by a friendly old woman to Nanny Su's house and they have a very touching reunion. Nanny is overjoyed to see her again and is also personally happy as she has been living with a cute teddy bear of man named Wang Dou. Su Yu Ning explains why she has to live with her for a while and Nanny has no problems with it.
Nanny Su isn't exactly nice to her teddy bear though. But he doesn't seem to mind.
Teddy bears never do.
In the evening there is another touching conversation between the two women which ends with Yu Ning simply wishing to be with a man who loves her and not an Emperor and Nanny wishes that her ward would triumph over fate and get her wish.
Ah, don't we all wish this kind of thing.
I've never really had to worry about whether I'd end up with an emperor.
Han Jiang explores the village with his tour guide who happens to be the old woman who directed Yu Ning. She extols the virtues of the village, deduces he came with Yu Ning and warns him to be careful in the mountains. These same mountains are where Prince Lu is presently located, still on his quest to find where the map indicated.
Oh, I wonder whether they'll meet? (yes, this is a rhetorical question)
Awwww, look at that semi-profile.
Those mysterious underground things strike again and the Prince loses all his men and also almost dies but is rescued by Han Jiang. He however had suffered a bad injury so Han Jiiang carries him away but he also falls into a trap set by Wang Dou.
Does one suffer bad injuries from falling into a dirt hole? I have been pondering this for a while. Maybe Lu is just pretending to be hurt, because it suits his air of melodrama.
He didn't fall into a hole, though - he was being dragged underground by something sharp.
Both men however eventually get knocked out and wake up in Nanny’s house. The Prince is in terrible pain and once again tries and fails to recruit Han Jiang to be his personal guard.
Han Jiang just doesn't want to be a Muru. Don't want!
I wouldn't want to have a job saving a crybaby's ass, either.
Han Jiang wanders around the house and gets mistaken for an intruder by Yu Ning and she smacks him on the head with a pot. He turns, their eyes meet and they have a super charged moment as she realises who he is. Awwwww. They are so happy to see each other and she wants to hear something along those lines from him but he says instead “You’ve grown much taller” LOOOOOL.
So awkward. Not a ladies man at all, our boy.
That somehow makes him even more desirable.
Nanny Su and her lovah search in the mountains for plants and herbs (looks a lot like Sheng's forest) to help heal their injured guest and Wang wonders if she knows who they are. Nanny said she doesn’t but that they will find more clues when they get back to them. Wang Dou worries about their families and especially about what they were looking for in the mountains. Hmmmmm….
He is very suspicious. Does he turn into a werewolf or a zombie during the night? The whole village is strange.
You picked up on that way before I did, but I was super-focused on Shawn.
Yu Ning decides to go for a stroll and Han Jiang seizes the opportunity to go be with her. She reads poetry by the river knowing he’s there and he strolls out when caught trying and failing to act nonchalant. The episode ends with him asking about why she was expelled from the Palace.
Okay, time to tell you all that I'm SO BORED with them. If there ever was a minus spark, they have it.
Shh. Just focus on Shawn's face.
Oh yes, he has deep dark secrets.
I'm thinking SHE does.
Han Jiang needs Muyun De’s help on how to woo women! LOOOL. “You’ve grown much taller”! Wow. What a fantastic line. LMAO.
He is cute, of course, but given she is such a bag of boredom, I think he needs to up his game a little or else, he'll put everybody including me and her to sleep.
I don't find her boring at all. Rather than her lack of action I see her feeding him opportunities and hoping for him to speak his mind, and I don't blame her for not just speaking out because this is how she's written to be. I see the yearning, and I find it interesting that while she is outspoken about what she doesn't want, she is not so quick to state what she does want.
Finally flashbacks that didn’t suck. Did you notice when the grownup Han Jiang and Yu Ning met, in the flashbacks were scenes that had not been shown before? That’s how it should be.
Yes, that happens from time to time in this show :D Not every flashback can be ffwarded!
I love flashbacks that have new material! That's how they SHOULD be.

Episode 14
We very briefly see people from another tribe - these ones live in the Subterranean City. The woman that stole Sheng’s painting is there - her real name is Princess Ji Yun Cong of the previous Cheng Dynasty and she is happy because finally her dad’s remains have been found. This subterranean stuff is really weird.
