The Problematic of the Unproblematic

Panda: I must apologize for the break in recaps. I got swept up in movies and Prison Playbook for about a week and then RL showed me some “fun times”. I am back though and this is a very cool episode especially the beginning. kakashi: Loved all the He Ye plus forest stuff.  I really dig that magician tribe. JoAnne: I would love any tribe that could make me stop thinking about those disgusting Helan sibs.

Panda: This was hard to watch. kakashi: On so many levels.  JoAnne: This was terrible.  And so FAST. One minute everything is fine and the next, boom.

Panda: Treachery :(( kakashi: Oh no, it's that episode :((( JoAnne: Poor HeYe. Is there anyone he can trust? Me! Me!  

Panda: Where we finally get to see a grown-up HeYe. kakashi: I LOVE IT! (Him) JoAnne: He's a fun guy, yep. Stuff HAPPENS around him.

Panda: A reunion! Actually two :)) kakashi: It's where I get bored for the first time. Could also be the second. JoAnne: I'm up in the 50's so I don't remember what happens here. I will find out as we go!

Panda: Episode that satisfies a lot of Shawn thirst. kakashi: What an exciting start to his arc! Later, alas.... *gets distracted by the pretty* never mind. I want to do things to this man and his nose

Panda: Kissing Cousins! kakashi: So many cousins, so many dirty things they could do....still better than siblings though. JoAnne: Funny because I'm way ahead of this (keeping pretty current with two-a-day) and I had a thought yesterday that the Helan sibs are probably only fit for each other, wild animals that they are.

Panda: In which the Emperor finally gets his spirits broken :( kakashi: Empy! My poor Empy! Hang in there!!! TT___________TT JoAnne:  I keep looking for info on Mr. Mo and it's just not there.  It makes him even more mysterious that I can't learn anything about the actor.  My theory is that this is his own hair, supplemented with some extensions.

Panda: Where we have the return of an old foe and the introduction of a new yummy character. JoAnne: Yummy is good. We like yummy. We are allllll about the yummy here at PotUp. kakashi: We are? I thought we're doing this for the intellectual value?

Panda: This was a hard episode to watch. kakashi: Poor, poor Emperor TT__________________TT (he is very cruel too though) JoAnne:  I don't even mind, though.

Panda: An action filled episode! kakashi: And the beginning of Prophesy 1. Or was it Prophesy 2?   JoAnne:  Now you have me remembering some very cheesy horror movies from the 80s. Tall Man, anyone? SakiVI: Okay, it's been a while since I watched this.  But I do remember something about a fight.

Panda: A reunion and 6 very satisfying slaps indeed. kakashi: And a hunting trip. They're always exciting. Often, people die. JoAnne: Did you hear that, Trot? People might die! *looks around expectantly for her most bloodthirsty friend* SakiVI: I would like people to die. But I'll settle for 6 satisfying slaps (and the consonance).

Panda: “The most beautiful woman in Great Duan” No Words. kakashi: Now we know the sad secret :( I actually really like the Emperor at this stage (yes, I know he's an idiot, but I can't help it!), but I don't see a happy future ahead of him, ha . SakiVI: she's cute, sure, but I don't find her the prettiest on this show . JoAnne: I felt terrible for them both and I did think she was the prettiest .

Panda: We get to meet Hot Princes and a character in Kakashi’s FF. kakashi: That was a bit unexpected :D (It's Mr. Mo) JoAnne: Is Mr. Mo a character or a pet name for an anatomical feature? A fictional character loosely based on Mo Yuan in some, ehem, not quite youth-appropriate fiction written by a certain Wao Shan . SakiVI: no idea who you are talking about.    

Panda: Birth secrets are revealed and we see just how dysfunctional the Royal couple are. kakashi: Oh wow, that sequence between the Emperor and the Empress gave me goosebumps. We know by now this woman isn't nice - but nobody deserves such living hell. JoAnne: Which came first, chicken or egg? Is she not nice because she didn't get the love she wanted, or did she not get the love because she wasn't nice? Probably neither of the above . SakiVI: I feel bad for her, but she is also crazy. 

Panda: The action shifts to the city of Tian Qi. We have new faces and some really gorgeous costumes kakashi: LOTS of new faces. It's getting complicated. And we still haven't met everyone!   JoAnne: Are you going to do character lists like you did for Peaches? I don't feel inspired at the moment, later maybe! SakiVI: this episode sold me on the show.  Absolutely stunning!

kakashi: Dammit. Sad. Panda :((( JoAnne: Why can't we have nice things? Why?

kakashi: I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! It's gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. We're recapping! But not at the pace that DF has promised to release subs, nope. I have a life, too...where is it though? *goes looking for it, comes up empty* Anyway, as usual in a long C-Drama, we need a bit of time to set things up, in this case, time to introduce our main characters (well, some of them - the focus of episode 1 is on the nomadic grassland tribes) when they were still young and innocent. JoAnne: Ooooooooooh WEE are we gonna have fun with this!  I hear Shawn Dou doesn't show up until after the first 9 episodes but that's okay because there is plenty else to see. Panda: I am so hyped for this! I like Shawn Dou but I am perfectly happy with waiting to see his background. The Opening Credits!! AHHH! SakiVI: Finally, something good.
