The Problematic of the Unproblematic

Peace is made in this episode, on various fronts. It's about the importance of family, about forgiveness, and about being good. Surprisingly, quite a lot of people act very mature in this one. becca: Ack! That ugly dog is back! Mary: Manduuuuuuu <3

We left this at the (first) scissor-threat incident. Justice will be served, I am sure of it! Min-gyu needs to be taught a lesson, Chang-man thinks, and so do I. Oh yes, it's payback time. A very satisfactory episode. This is such a good show - I'd almost forgotten how much I like it. It is almost too good. While watching this, I caught myself wondering why they don't act that well in ever KDrama. Even the same actors don't act as well in other dramas . 

Ack. It's the fallout of Chang-man's Beat Up Min-gyu Mission. Did it work? Did it work? Poor Chang-man .... he's hurting :( I have come to the conclusion that some of these poeple need hugs, and all of them need counseling.

Oi, what a roller coaster of an episode! From extremely sweet to extremely sad in 30 minutes, I tell you! The best: Lee Hee-Joon showing off his acting chops. Oh my, this guy can act. Mary: This episode is the best. For crying. becca: I watched at school (NOT during class! I am a good student!), and I couldn't let out a single tear because there were two guys sitting right across from me. It. Was. Torture.

This episode brings back a secret favorite of mine (The President!) (Laughing at memories of reclining-chair scene....) and he even comes with a son! Quite to Manbo and Madame's delight, because who would be better for their Da-yeong than a filial son of a stinking rich man? This episode also gives us more pitiful creatures, first among them Thief Girl Han-jeong. It's a sad one ... Mary: I want Yoo-na to be that girl's Yang-sun. becca: I do, too.

Some things are settled in this episode but other things start turning bad ... people we thought we hated suddenly seem very pitiful. Not a dull moment with this one. becca: This episode reminded me once again that nothing and no one is black and white in this world. This certainly isn't a crack drama for me, but it satisfies my heart and  my mind because these characters and their problems are shown in a very realistic and thoughtful manner. The characters seem and act like real people, for better or for worse. Why can't more dramas do that?

On we go! At this rate, we'll finish recapping this show by 2025. Better late than never applies to this case though! In Episode 17, Yoo-na and Yun-ji robbed the robbers, Chang-man almost kissed Yoo-na (or so she thought) and Nam-su has hit rock bottom. In this episode, the robbed robbers get much too close to our girls for me to be comfortable. Begone! Also, Gye-pal gets some love. Who would have thought... becca: This was an especially good episode. I almost cried a few times. Mary: Hey! Maybe there'll be a third remake of Moon of Seoul/Yoona's Street by then! I'm excited that you're excited about the next couple of eps though. Because I loved them to bits!

Mary: Robbing robbers! Sexual frustrations while hanging laundry! Grown men bonding over dolls! Trolling Chang-man with rain! What's not to like? Get all your laughs now before in case the dark times come soon. Hehehe JoAnne: Hey there... don't think I've been in this room before. Don't worry, I'm not staying. kakashi: Hey! In here, red is MY color. And mary, what are you saying??! Dark times?! Nooooooooo! becca: Look look! I'm bluuuuueee again!!!! Like this ? 

Time to give the "Madame" some love in this episode. Because raising a brother like Gye-pal and living with a socially inept (albeit sometimes cute) gangster boss Manbo can be quite hard. One hug and a Best Sister Award for this woman, please. becca: Oh, Madame gets all the hugs this episode. She is quickly becoming my favorite character, and I think her friendship with Chang-man is my favorite relationship in the drama right now. kakashi: *HUG*! Hey, but this episode was kinda sad-ish. I felt for Gye-pal. 

Almost nothing happens this episode, and yet a LOT happens. The plot takes a back seat for a while as we slow down to take a closer look at our characters, particularly Chang-man and his relationships with the people around him. Turns out, he's just as flawed and imperfect as everyone else. Mary: O___O kakashi: He can be a real dick if he wants to, yes. A righteous bastard. 

The law catches up to Yoo-na this episode! Or does it? Chang-man swoops in and finagles a "stay-close-to-me" deal in the process. And Nam-su is NOT happy. kakashi: I'm pretty happy though. EPISODE 14 Yang-sun gives Yoo-na the locker number 251 and leaves the sauna. Yoo-na dons some specs for disguise (*snort*) and looks for the locker. But when she finds it, there's a girl using the locker itself. Yoo-na asks the kid what she's doing (LOL, you have the gall). She says her mom asked her to get some things. kakashi: suuuuuuuuure. becca: *raises eyebrow*

Mary: Hello Thuglets! We're (sort of) back from The Land Of Evil Deadlines and trying to catch up with this lovely show. So here is Episode 13's CatchUpCap. kakashi: I'm so sorry for not being able to press ahead with this! Thank you very mary for starting the CatchUpCaps! (P'shaw. Like you need to apologize for recapping lots of episodes for us!) But first: SHORT SUMMARY OF EPISODE 12 Yoo Na catches the little troll Hwa-suk and gives her a good beating. She promises to return the money. But Nam-su's good hand can't be returned, can it? (TT__TT) My poor Nam-su spends the rest of the episode drinking and feeling sorry for himself. becca: Not good. kakashi: This could end very badly. Booking Ajumma can't pay the fine for selling fake viagra and decides to do penitentiary work instead. So does Gye-pal who already went in after an awkward send-off party. becca: *shrug* Not great for Booking Ajumma. Also not great for Gye-pal, I guess, but we ...

As Gye-pal packs his things and goes to the detention center to get the money for his fine, nerves are blank at the Manbo House. The Curlies struggles with their own financial difficulties, the Manbos have no peace, and Mi-sun can't stop pining after her Gigolo. Yoo-na feels the weight of her life and briefly loses her cool. And who is there for all of them? Chang-man, of course. Mary: Because every lost soul reminds Chang-man of his pet bird. And he wants to redeem all of them. becca: He's built a little birdhouse in his soul.

Hello! Becca, here, stepping in for a turn! And I couldn't be happier with the episode I got. There's a lot going on, as people are faced with choices and consequences. Things may be about to change, and I'm both very excited and very worried, especially as our heroine is flirting with the dark side. Somebody hold me! Preferably Chang-man. kakashi: Hm. Chang-man. He is beginning to annoy me just a tiiiiiiny little bit, you know, a microbe-sized bit. By the way, I had to get a different version to gif from, unfortunately, with subs. This feels a bit like WTFParis days, but this time, the subs are English and not German at least. Mary: Pfffft. She's flirting with the dark side, and I've a tiny little crush on Song Jae-rim. Also, hurrah for gifs and hurrah for becca and kahuna helping to recap YNS. *pushes Chang-man away to hug you both*

Faithful readers of our Yoo-na's Street recaps, I apologize for taking so long to do this next recap! My excuse? Well, real life. But now I'm back and you shall be rewarded because I'm taking EXTRA care to write a nice recap today. And what an episode this is! Shit is hitting the fan, big time. And things just get so much better (but very sorry, no gifs today - the YNS files are not giffable, for whatever crooked reason).  Mary: *crying in corner for Nam-su* becca: *passes tissue*

Ah, what an episode. Suspicions, jealousy, arrests and hearts that flutter. And very much worry for our heroine. Extremely good acting, directing and writing. It's a feast. I also find myself unable to write anything else than "it's so good" over and over again! Mary: *steals some Yoo-na worry and saves it for Nam-su* becca: *is worried about EVERYONE*

People, I was dying to get on with this. Dying! It's torture that I have to wait until I recap to see this show. I want to marathon!! Mary: *giggling* That's what you get when you try to be efficient! XD Me, I just watch whenever I want even if it means I have to repeat the episode again for recapping. (That means I get less time to watch other shows though. Also, a lack of sleep. Ok. Maybe not being efficient is worse? Meh. Don't ask me. I'm an apple.) becca: I love this show to pieces, but I actually don't feel much desire to marathon it. I like watching as we recap, even if it means I'm way behind everyone else. This is one drama that I like to savor.

Mary: What a great episode! More pickpocketing adventures. More lovelines formed. More neighbor problems(?) Yoo-na gets busy recruiting a magical antenna while Chang-man also wises up and enlists an ally in his Operation: Stop Yoo-na From Stealing With The Power of Love . Whose team gets better? kakashi: I'm on your team! And on everybody's team! I'm so ON this boat! becca: Which team has all the hugging? 'Cause I want to be on THAT team! [Note on character spelling: I'm gonna follow kakashi's naming format because it's easier to read and type. Hehe. Chang Man will be Chang-man, Yoo Na = Yoo-na, etc. Oh, and Curly = Curly.]

This episode is quite melancholic, as feelings get hurt and hopes are crushed. Yoo-na's Street's characters all are of a great loneliness that threatens to choke them all. Chang-man makes a few important decisions, and Yoo-na seems a bit affected by his stubbornness. So good! Mary: LOL at the new recap name. becca: It really says it all.

Chang Man is the man! He has a nice new room, a nice new job, and (possibly) a nice new not-yet-girlfriend. What else could he ask for? His life is perfect! What d'you mean this is a kdrama? La-la-la I can't hear you. kakashi: Let's enjoy it while he's happy. And when he's happy, we're all happy. Right? becca: *hugs everyone*
