The Problematic of the Unproblematic

SakiVI: Wonder of wonders, Kashuo isn't totally annoying in this first episode. He even has some testosterone. Reincarnating over time and galaxies clearly did him some good. kakashi: I laughed my way through this first episode. It's really, really funny! They're pulling their own leg so hard it might fall off.   JoAnne: Is his wig a little bit different? Maybe that was all I needed. *wiggles fingers hello at pretty Dreamer in the background*

kakashi: Ye Hua's and Bai Qian's relationship is not going well but at least, we get some ultra cute Sixteenth. JoAnne: *still singing* He was only Sixteenth, only Sixteenth, and for her his heart took a blow; they were just wrong to fall in love, 'cause you know he's devoted to Mo .

kakashi: Xian Nu finds Yan Zhi and Dijung and Fengjiu bore me to death. JoAnne: OH GOD ME TOO

kakashi: Ye Hua gets to take his Qian Qian to his home in this episode and he is so excited about it ... and nervous at the same time. Things are a bit awkward between them nowadays. No wonder, with a High God like Mo Yuan looming. JoAnne: He's like a teenage boy, our Ye Hua.  It's cute.

SakiVI: Finally, a finale! And a surprisingly funny ending, too. Trotwood: I didn't get what they were trying to do with this ending--not the plot questions nor the tone. But then again, I gave up understanding anything about any of the choices when we were at the glacier episodes. kakashi: Back when I watched this - that was when blogging was not yet dominated by 3310 - I really liked the ending. It gave me a good feeling. And even though it's very open ended, it gave me closure. JoAnne: Wow, it feels like a lifetime ago. Three lifetimes. No Peach Blossoms in the desert. But maybe in our dessert?  

kakashi: Raving mad and yet, pitiful, that is our Xuan Nu. This recap is in honor of her. JoAnne: I can think of two, maybe three 'villainous' women I've actually liked in a drama - Xuan Nu, damn her, is among that list. I don't like her, actually, but I respect her hustle.

Sorry if you don't like it, I'm definitely not going back to the old design :) ****** kakashi: I almost don't believe it myself but I am actually looking forward to a KDrama! It's Whisper and it starts today. SakiVI: Trying out Tunnel, too. Mostly because everyone in it is so pretty! Trotwood: Whisper is another show (like The Defendant) that I will be too anxious to watch the set up and will start watching half way through when the real revenge starts. JoAnne: Kakashi has been lured by the bare shoulders of Dimples, one of her favorites. But it does look good. (For those keeping track of my spiral into madness, get a flashlight. It's getting deep.)

kakashi: Gestures of love are made and one of the main villains is identified. We are close to the end, but everything seems open. It's a nailbiter. Eleanor: Wait, wow it really is close to the end and yeah, so many loose ends. But I'm going to take a minute here and just pretend that's me with Ji Bai.  Trotwood: I'll pretend, too, with me taking the picture. JoAnne: As long as you're already set up with the camera, will you pretend one of me too? With Ji Bai, I mean.

kakashi: Poor Ye Hua. There is not much of that eager puppy enthusiasm left ... okay, scratch that. He is still very eager, but Bai Qian isn't, or at least, she is making him doubt everything about him and her. It's a new phase of heartache for our Crown Prince brought on by her panicked rejection of his deep feelings. It hurts. JoAnne: Not as much as having your eyes plucked out though, I bet.

kakashi: This episode is a complete dud in the beginning (mortal Dijun, bleh) and kicks major ass in the end. Bai Qian is fierce when she protects what she loves. I adore her. JoAnne: I love that an innocuous little hand-held fan kicks ass, too.

kakashi: We did it, my friends! We're at the end! We are still alive! Can't say as much about most of the Ice Fantasy characters, but that couldn't be helped. Millions of fans hated the ending, but I totally love it. SakiVI: I was sad at the ending. I was also annoyed. I'll explain why below. JoAnne: I am so looking forward to this!

kakashi: There are a lot of things in this episode that I don't get and that don't add up, but I think that's due to some very bad cutting and editing. Maybe the main editor was sick? Anyway, apart from some Ye Hua snuggling, it's a failure.  JoAnne: I think Ye Hua snuggles can cover up a lot of sins, though, so I won't complain too much.

kakashi: I can't with this show. I particularly like the zombies we get to see in this episode though! And that's a lot, coming from me, because I abhor zombies! SakiVI: Oh, were there zombies?  Hard to tell with this lot. JoAnne: Ooooh, I like zombies!

kakashi: Can't say I particularly like the next two episodes, when our Bai Qian's storyline intersects with mortal Dijun's storyline. Because I don't like the mortal Dijun storyline. The episode is saved for me due to some Xuan Nu craziness. JoAnne: I can't say that I really like the Dijun mortal storyline either - but you're right, Xuan Nu is often enough to save the day. Isn't it funny how we can enjoy her crazy but we despise Su Jin? The recap is officially saved because of JoAnne. Watch out for the Lotus-comment . 

kakashi: A grand (NOT) battle between Ice and Fire begins in this episode and Kasuo learns that the Veiled Lotus is quite demanding. Gains and losses, dude! You should have listened. SakiVI: The battle was a bit slow. And once again, Yan Da showed herself the only sane person on this show. JoAnne: Flame is feeling the burn, I guess?

kakashi: It took forever to recap this episode because Mark in the mortal realm looks SO GOOD. The sexual tension is intense. They really shouldn't hold back like this, I'm sure it's unhealthy. JoAnne: I know it's unhealthy for us, anyway. 

kakashi: They find out. I repeat, they find out. Every one of them finds out what happened. Incredible. SakiVI: I thought they'd stay stupid forever. JoAnne: Just because they know doesn't mean they won't be stupid.

kakashi: Bai Qian halfheartedly tries to get rid of Ye Hua (she finds his behavior suspicious!) while he (who finds her behavior suspicious in turn) tries to find out why his Su Su is Bai Qian and does not remember him. It doesn't take him all that long to find out.  JoAnne: Oh good, I hate when things drag on forever.

kakashi: No more Peach Wine! Only on this blog, for 27 more episodes, spread over more than 4 weeks from now on. Yay! This one will be very, very hard to let go. JoAnne: I'm looking at my watch list and crying. Not just because Mark Chao is gone now, but because he was here in the first place. I may never recover. I think I might start a rewatch .  I loved it, but I will probably never watch it again (barring the occasional clip.) Me, I'll watch certain parts in certain episodes .  Trotwood: I'll watch it this summer when my non-Korean drama ban has been lifted. There are a couple of other finale discussions going on here, too, correct? Didn't Behind your Smile End? And I know Jo and I have to decompress about Voice. Smile got a 1-episode extension :) We don't have to say goodbye to The Destroyer of Panties until next week. kakashi: In an incredibly twist, they .... no. I lie. They still don't know about the switch. But we're having a competition for Lan Shang's hand! And endless discussion about who is going to kill whom, potentially. SakiVI: I didn't bother rewatching this one. JoAnne: Is the Power of Emo making Kasuo's hair darker? Where are the blue eyes?

Shuk: Hello everyone! I'm terribly busy with real life stuff, but that doesn't stop these darn things from popping up everywhere! And with the help of my lovely e-friends, we have more ET's than ever! We are also including a new country - welcome Turkey! Most shows had only one or two this time. The notable exception and our winner for the Most Found ET's is South Korea's Father I'll Take Of You  (special shoutout to Christy .  Also, some are still airing, so there may be more for some dramas.

kakashi: Ye Hua seeks confirmation that Bai Qian is indeed his Su Su - and when he has it, he begins to make sure she can never escape him again. JoAnne: Which is way less creepy than it sounds.

kakashi: Ye Hua meets Bai Qian! And he realizes she and his Su Su are identical! And he radiates intense desire for her - I'm a goner. She, on the other hand, is just very confused. And flustered. This episode is one of my favs! Lots and lots of gifs ahead too. JoAnne: Woohoo! Bring on the horny gods! yes! We are soooo ready!

kakashi: Dare we hope that .... no, they do not find out. SakiVI: Flame looks good. JoAnne: He looks like he's marching in a Mardi Gras parade, stoned out of his mind.

kakashi: Everyone gets ready to go to a banquet at the Eastern Seas - will they all meet? Oh my. OF COURSE THEY WILL, ahhhhhhhhh! Can't wait!!!! JoAnne: They MUST meet. I even want Li Jing to be there.

kakashi: Xu Xu goes in frantic search of Ji Bai who, I may as well tell you, isn't dead but alive and kicking. Kicking bad guys. Trotwood: Umm. Were you talking? I think I cut myself on that jawline. Eleanor: That jawline makes me think all sorts of thoughts. And those lips, don't get me started... JoAnne: Imagine a historical drama where we have Wang Kai and Mark Chao competing for the lady. *backs away slowly from the carnage about to ensue*

kakashi: I'm a sadist. I am so enjoying Ye Hua's immense pain! And we get a lot of it in this episode. JoAnne: Poor guy, he's absolutely devastated. It's not just the loss, either - it's that it's his fault.

kakashi: Well. If you thought people would finally find out about the soul-swapping in this episode .... Kasuo gets some sex though. SakiVI: Yay, I guess. But the closeups of the actors' nose pores was seriously unsexy. JoAnne: Everything about this drama is seriously unsexy. Oh wait..Yuan Ji is sexy. He's dead though, JoAnne . 

kakashi: We see Ye Hua struggle with his loss, oh so much. And we see him act on his contempt for Su Jin, finally. JoAnne: It's SO SATISFYING .

SakiVI: Crazy Chen is annoying. Fatty gets some things right - others wrong. Bayi is handsome. Shirley is smart and practical. Go figure. kakashi: I loved Crazy Chen. In fact, it basically made this episode for me. He is so funny! I laughed all the time he was on screen .  Trotwood: I loved him, too. He was hilarious up until the moment he wasn't. I got whiplash from the opening. More stuff happens in the first 3 minutes here than happened in the last 3 eps combined. Or at least it felt like it. JoAnne: Perhaps they're all dead and travelling through Hell, like a Chinese version of Tales from the Crypt. Or maybe we are. Episode 20 They are back to wondering if one of the five in that tomb is not human . The candles flicker, which, if our crew were paying attention, they would either wonder about there being air, or there being a ghost. Come on, people, either option is good! I did get very excited, it's true. I did as well, but also wondered why they weren't p
